Hey guys, I looked through some of the old threads but they were either kind of dated or I may have just missed it completely, but I'm looking to get back into reading some random buffy and angel (mostly angel) books and thought I'd ask you guys which are some of your favourite books that you've read and would recommend others to read.

I'd prefer one off books, instead of a whole series of books, but if you have a very strong argument for one, then maybe you can persuade me 😀

for BtVS: The Gatekeeper Trilogy is excellent if you can get yourslef to read all three books (it does come all together in one if you can find that version and trick yourself into thinking it's one book!)
a lot of people recommend the Spike and Dru-centric novel Pretty Maids all in a row i think it's called
I'm partial to any of the books by either/and/or Nancy Holder or Christopher Golden and set around s3, if you stick with those you'll have a good read 🙂

Angel: I've been pretty much satisfied with all the ones I've read, but the ones set inthe earlier seasons are better (IMO)

Yup, 'Pretty Maids all in a row' is a good book. What I also like are the Angel Chronics (are they called that in English? I've read them in German) but I guess that might be a little boring if you've seen all the episodes. 'Queen of the Slayers' was also very enjoyable.

Try Angel - The Longest Night. It's actually a collection of short stories all taking place on the same night - very good read. 🙂

While I dont know any Angel ones. I know plenty of Buffy ones that have Angel..

Book of Fours is great.

The Unseen Trilogy is also a winner imo.

Along with the Lost Slayer 4 part mini.

Go Ask Malice is great if your a Faith fan.

Monster Island and Heat are also ok.

I read Apocalypse Memories (Buffy) on Friday, it was pretty good, it kept my attention which is a rarity. ( I was working at a shop in the markets and it was dead quiet so I finished it in one sitting). The end was a little predictable but all up I enjoyed it.

Yesterday I read Dark Mirror (Angel). That was ok, an easy story to just pick up and read. I was a bit confused where exactly it was in the series, I knew it was set in season 4 but I was still trying to figure out how if Cordy was evil yet or not. It didn't really contribute to the story so I suppose it doesn't matter.

I started reading Immortal yesterday as well so far so good.

Personally I like long reads so that means it's mostly series that I indulge in. Also, I seem to find that the best Buffy/Angel novels are the cross-overs (seven crows aside). The ones that I found most enjoyable were The Unseen Trilogy- It gives a great feeling for both the Scoobies and AI team and manages to bring all the truly great characters together, including Spike, Faith and Kate. The Big Bad is interesting in parts (more so how it effects the people around it) and some of the original charaters are genuinely interesting. It' a good 'un.

I also really enjoyed Heat and Monster Island. Predictable in parts but still good enough. Again they are both cross-overs. Buffy gives an interesting speech in Mosnter Island about Spike actually.

My two favourite Buffy books are Immortal (It is the best in my opinion. It is the book that truly feels like the show. Highly enjoyable) and Sins of the Father (Buffy's ex Pike comes back and it raises some genuine questions as well as opening up Giles's character a bit) Highly enjoyable too.

Hope that helps🙂

I espically like how Lucy Hangover or whatever her last name is does several guest appearances throughout the Buffy books.

I haven't read any angel ones, but Buffy...

Go Ask Malice
The Lost Slayer
Pretty Maids all in a Row
Immortal

Those are all AMAZING!

Buffy:

- Night of the Living Rerun [crappy character portrayal, but it's funny]
- Immortal [BEST. BOOK. EVER.]
- The Wisdom of War [Lots of awesome plot twists]
- The Lost Slayer [OMG AWESOMENESS]
- Go Ask Malice [Faith = love]
- The Wicked Willow Trilogy [I love little AU stories]
- Spark and Burn [Spike = love]
- The Book of Fours [LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE]
- Queen of the Slayers [Kind of rushed near the end; too much exposition, but the ideas the character portrayal do the show justice]
- The Unseen Trilogy [Second best crossover]
- Monster Island [THE best crossover EVER]

Angel:
- Endangered Species [AWESOME]
- Love and Death [Good story, very true to the show]
- Monolith [See above]
