It's the Snow White of fair. She can geek out about the bleached wonder all she wants if it doesn't factor into their reason for making the podcast and more importantly the rating.


But just because she is a writer doesn't mean she is without flaw in that area, or bias for that matter. One of the reason I hate the later Seasons is precisely because the writing sucks. Especially in S7 the writing (along with a host of other things) is just terrible yet it's one of her fave Seasons. I stopped listening to their podcast when they gave an episode a higher place on the list just 'because Spike'. That was exactly the opposite of their stated goal.

But I did hope they could finish it. Mainly because I wanted to listen to certain S6 and S7 episodes to see how they would excuse the things they had such a firm moral stance on in the early Seasons, in particular because they shipped Spuffy. Because to me it makes no sense, to have that kind of moral stance but throwing it out the window when you find someone hot. So I had a perverse curiosity in that regard.

I know this is an old post, I was about to post something about Lani's new vlog and searched and this thread came up. I used to love Dusted so so much, I could tell Lani was a big Spike fan but thats ok because so was I for a long while, but then into Season 6, things took a strange turn and I could tell she was overly focused on Spike, BUT that was ok because the other have of the podcast sorda ground her and really the give and take was still all very interesting. I followed her over to her vlog in hopes that I would get more of the good stuff from Dusted only to find her really fangirling over Spike some more. I'm going to talk a little bit more about this in another thread shortly as I want feedback, but she literally calls Angel "stupid Angel" lol. Which fine, thats fine but you have to know as a vlogger, you are probably alienating a part of your viewership there, right? I miss Dusted though, that was a good podcast, especially with Allistair to balance the conversation out.

Are you guys on itunes? I just joined BB last month or so and I saw there was a podcast on here so I'm hoping to check your podcast out soon. I like to be able to listen as I drive around alot for work, so not sure if you guys are on itunes, or overcast.

Thanks for this. I started by listening to The Witch, but they spent the first 10 minutes prattling on about themselves, so stopped listening. I thought I was probably being too harsh as it was only their third ep, so moved on to School Hard, and they were really good. Very enthusiastic, they obviously loved the episode, there was even squealing 😀 I'll definitely listen to more episodes.

Considering she never said anything negative about Angel (that I remember but I haven't listened to all of Dusted) except for mentioning he brooded too much and that in reality girls don't find that attractive if it's all you have to offer. Oh well. I'm sure she's got enough Spike fangirls who listen to her gush about a fictional character.

Yea I've listened to I'd say 60% of Dusted - I pick and choose my favorite episodes - and never really heard anything horribly negative about Angel. They made fun of him being kinda awkward and Broody in Season 1 which is a very fair assessment. The british guy once said something funny like "Oh no its Brood o'clock" which I found hilarious. So when she said "stupid Angel" on her podcast I was a bit taken aback. I know she fan girls over Spike but I don't subscribe to the notion that to like one you have to dislike the other.

Ok I think I'm officially giving up on "Still Pretty" I tried to stay engaged I really did but she just did a review of "Selfless" and focused more on Spike than she did on Buffy and didn't even talk at all about Xander and his struggle in this episode. She doesn't even mention Buffy's speech about loving and killing Angel and how interesting the parallels are to this situation and doesn't even discuss the Becoming throw back (kick his ass). Constantly focused on Spike's story arc above all else. So fine, I'm obviously not her target audience.

I've just started listening to Buffering the Vampire Slayer thanks to @dcai0830 's rec and I'm addicted to it?

It's my very first podcast ever so I don't really have anything to compare it to but it's so fun and enthusiastic and I love that they're such fans of the show! The songs are fun and catchy too, I'm looking forward to discovering them all.

I'll try other podcasts once I'm caught up on that one but if they're all like that then I've be missing out on lots of stuff.

I might go back and listen to this one, but I sort of stopped I think before the season 6 Riley ep. I'm not surprised she's all focused on Spike. I think that's why Alastair was a good balance to the Dusted podcast. I wish it could have continued with that girl he got to replace Lani.

I might try the Buffering the Vampire Slayer Podcast at some point.

I love Still Pretty, Lani Diane Rich is a great communicator, but of course I agree with her love of Spike so I might be biased 🙂 Buffering is great too,they are so enthusiastic.

I'm not surprised she's all focused on Spike. I think that's why Alastair was a good balance to the Dusted podcast. I wish it could have continued with that girl he got to replace Lani.

I didn't like that other girl, was her name Sarah? Her voice was grating, if she could have taken it down a notch with her voice I would have kept listening to that but she was screaming into the mic. But I could not agree more that Alastair was a good balance because there needs to be discussion and push and pull instead of just someone sitting and fan girling for me to be interested.

I have tried The Angel Re-Watch, to be honest I'm not a big fan, there is alot of empty space, it sounds like two friends talking about Buffy while they are out to eat or something. I hate the re-caps.

Oooh but I did make it on their podcast after TGIQ. I sent in a comment about Cordy v. Buffy and they read it on the podcast and I don't think they understood my comment but they went off on why they are team Cangel and justifying it with the whole Cangel is more mature... bleh.... LOL. I may have lost a little of respect for them with that BUT, I intend to keep listening just not as excited about them.
