These are characters who will turn up often in episodes and have an inportant role in the group or in the life of one of the other characters.
Ilana was born in 1986, just after the family moved to Isreal from China. Her mother is half Chinese, Half Irish, and her father was born in Isreal. Her parents were killed in one of the many occurances of violence in Isreal when she was just 4. She was then taken in by her maternal grandparents in Ireland along with her older half sister, Ciara.
Her grandfather died two years later, and then when she was 7, her grandmother fell ill also. It was then that Ciara's father came and kidnapped Ciara. Her grandmother decided to then move back to China. They moved in with Ilana's aunt and uncle where for the next five years she wondered what became of her sister and if she'd ever see her again. Shortly after coming home to China, her grandmother died.
When Ilana was about 12, that Ciara found the family again in China. Things were good for the next year, until the girls witnessed their aunt's murder by a man who was a mafia kingpin in China. Their aunt had been having an affair with him and their uncle angery and betrayed, set her up to make the mafia think she'd betrayed them. When he came home to find his wife dead, and Ciara and Ilana raped by the gang, he did nothing except gather his things and leave.
Ilana and Ciara went on the road from there on, never staying anywhere too long, but needing to get out of China, and attempting to avoid Russia where Ciara's father and grandfather were still on the hunt for her. The girls finally landed in California where Ciara discovered she was tapped special by the Council not long before it's destruction to be the next slayer and watch over a newly reopened Hell Mouth near San Francisco. They have now moved into Matt's house, and Ilana is finishing high school.
