Just wanted to post so that everyone is clear on the spoiler rule as it pertains to Dollhouse:

Any episodes not yet aired in the UK are considered spoiler territory.

So that means, please, no signatures or thread titles with spoilery things in them, and please mark spoilers in threads themselves.

Remember we have the
tag for this purpose.

Please, be considerate of others who don't get to watch the eps when they air in the US, and let them watch unspoiled if they wish.

Thanks 🙂

And then when it's been aired in Britain we're gonna say 'eff you, to hell with being considerate' to the rest of the world and spoiler all of those unfortunate souls who do not live in the US/UK (through no fault of their own!)?

I was wondering if someone was gonna bring that up. I understand the being conciderate thing but where draw the line? Of course one can't think of every small country in the world but one must understand that it feels unfair to some. But if the point of it all is "Sorry, but you live in a small country so learn to deal with it." so be it. Personally I don't have a problem with spoilers. If it's been aired somewhere it's been aired. That's just the way it is. I don't expect people to avoid stuff that might be a spoiler just because it hasn't been aired here yet. But just being considerate to some part of the world seems a bit bad.

Well, people that know me are well aware I don't care for spoilers most of the time, but that's also sort of the way I see it. It's been aired somewhere. I don't really see why the UK is worth making an exception for.

Cos we rule 😀

To be fair, I do get what Buffy is saying. I haven't been able to watch the last few eps of Dollhouse cos I'm back at home so will have to wait till I go back to uni and
I spied a banner somewhere with Sierra and Victor on it and I was like NOOOO!!!"
I haven't seen that far. It wasn't actually that annoying just bit like 'ah man.' 😀

The UK has been given a confirmed airdate for May 19th, 2009 (as announced here), so we're just asking for people to be careful about spoilers so that our UK members have the chance to enjoy the series unspoiled just like our US & Canadian fans have.

And like Flannen mentioned, even for US residents it's easy to be spoiled right now (since so many people are using websites like Hulu to watch the show). So again, we're just trying to ensure that everyone has a fair shot at enjoying it, and I'm sure that the members that want to be "unspoiled" will really appreciate the effort on your part 🙂

I'm not looking for a fight and personally as I said I don't have a problem with it and will try my best not to spoiler anyone. Using the word "everyone" don't seem accurate though. 😉

Seems like you're trying to start something to me
I think the difference with England is, that they air them as close as possible to the dates in America, Smaller countries tend to take AGES to air them, and we can't just spoiler everything for like a year or more, it's gets kinda stupid after a point.

And just to say, from Ireland here, so Im in that having to wait ages boat, it takes forever for TV to get here, luckily we can get sky though...

'smaller countries'? LOL, I was always under the impression the UK IS a small country
And then when it's been aired in Britain we're gonna say 'eff you, to hell with being considerate' to the rest of the world and spoiler all of those unfortunate souls who do not live in the US/UK (through no fault of their own!)?

I think the key here would be that we HAVE an air date for the UK. For all we know, it will never air anyplace else and you'll have to deal with the DVDs at your own pace when and where you can get them.

I feel pretty comfy that if tomorrow we got news that 3 other countries were going to start airing in July or August, the same would apply to them. It's just that, as of now, we have no proof it will EVER air there. And it seems a bit much to say no banners that might be spoilers for the next 10 years while we wait and see who's going to air it and so everyone can scramble for DVD's that aren't even released yet.

so in order to avoid the 10 year spoiler thing, no country should get a special rule, including the UK. The show is American, it's been aired there, it's available one way or another to the rest of the world

Swedish wikipedia says it will start airing there on April 19th. 😉

Honestly, I feel that the show should only hold 'spoiler' significance for the country of origin plus one week for people who watch online and such.

The moment you cater for others, you have to cater for all and spoiler tags do actually hinder conversation.

Granted sigs should refrain from big spoilers, but surely the point of having specific sections for shows like Dollhouse, means that if people don't want spoilers, they should stay away from those sections/posts/threads!

Well, then that is before May 19th so Sweden is covered by the first rule!

Sadly, that's not how we chose to do it. We'd rather let the other countries that we know it's airing in be able to have the same experience we did. It stinks trying to be fair, sometimes.

Doesnt this include quotes too? So the quote thread in the Dollhouse forum will have to be marked as a spoiler thread?

It shouldn't be a problem if the thread itself is marked "spoilers" in the title, should it? That way only people who have seen the episode will go into that thread. People who haven't seen the episode yet won't be able to discuss it anyway, so they'd have no reason to be there.

I want to watch Dollhouse when it airs, unspoilered.

So I don't go in the Dollhouse forum.

However, if someone had a quote like:

Echo, dying: "The dollhouse is really owned by Simon Cowell to get good people in the X Factor".

in their sig, I'd be pretty pissed off. Or, obviously, not that, but something that was a fairly big spoiler.
I'm not a fan of people having banners that reveal stuff (like certain ships or whatever) but it doesn't mean anything to me right now because I haven't seen an episode yet).

Lou summed things up pretty well, but using the UK as a middle ground has always been how we've dealt with spoilers. The US and the UK are where most of our membership comes from, so this way we can accommodate the greatest number of people. But, let's face it, it's one forum, and so don't go in there if you don't want to be spoiled.

This is not a topic that is up for discussion - doing it this way is the best compromise. And this is not a dig at non-US/UK/Canadian countries, so please don't try to make this into one.

No, because the title says Dollhouse quotes, if you click on that you can expect spoilers, you can't quote something without giving something away!
