Region 1 Buffy Season 2 DVD

Season Three should and hopefully will be released sometime this year also. In the UK, seasons one through three were all released last year; season 1 in January, season 2 in May and then season 3 in October.

The UK's DVD releases should have us up to Angel S3 and Buffy S6 by december, or that was the promise....

As for the S2 R1 Release... hopefully UK will see the Re-Issue at the same time!

The UK S2 DVD has already been re released, the only difference however is that the packaging now features the same anti-scratch disc holders as the S3 release.

S2 is currently scheduled to be released in June...hopefully unlike S1 they won't push that date back.

I heard about that too. I also heard that S3 is scheduled to be released December 2002 in the US.

Jill, where did you hear that?

I know that Season 2 is supposed to be released in June because there was a little card in my Season 1 DVD set. I read on another message board that Season 3 is supposed to be released in December 2002. I don't know if it offical, it's just something I heard and wanted to pass along.

I remember reading in one of the DVD mags that the latest buffy dvd to be released in the UK will have some bloopers in the extras!!

Will check out which one to be sure.

I don't think its fair that other countries can get DVDs of out shows before we do because weren't we the ones who made the show? That is just plain cruelty... but its okay... I'll live. I'm glad that i didn't have to buy a s2 dvd only for them to reissue it so i guess that is a good thing! what do u think?

"We" can't claim any rights to producing the show, assuming you mean the USA--only ME has that right.

The reason why the DVD set has had a delayed release here is because the cable channel FX bought rights to Buffy's syndication package. Therefore, in order to make any profits, they must air Buffy reruns once or twice in order to collect revenue on viewership before the same episodes are released in any other type of format which might garner more of an audience and detract from people tuning in to FX. Now that all previous seasons have been aired on FX, FOX could technically release DVD sets of the remaining seasons 2-5 in complete DVD boxed sets, but they don't want to glut the market so they've decided to space their releases in 6 month periods (which is longer than the temporal gaps in the UK; that you can legitametly complain about).

They should make the region one DVD's in widescreen format! That's how it's being made in region four, down under (Just my personal opinion).

Nah...most people don't have widescreen TVs, and as Joss said, that would betray the intended format of the show. Buffy was always meant to have that TV look and feel, so a 4:3 aspect ratio does the trick.

Blasted logic. But... I don't mind so much the wait. I still haven't got the first season DVD though.. I want it, bad. 6 month gaps give me time to earn the cash, budget it, or ask for it as a gift. Thanks for the information and further explinations. 🙂
