Basicly ive always been on a mixed oppinon who Fred should be with , and i get the feeling jos changes ur mind as Fred swaps partners
personally i never thought Nox was right a random new addition, although he loved Fred he didnt love her in the way the others did,
Gunn he always tried to protect Fred keep her out of trouble was nice to her and killed for her probably would of died for her he also said he would give up his job for her.
Wesley always liked Fred from the start was watchful of her and very jealous of gun and later Nox when was with lilah was i think always thinking of Fred (ep with glasses) supersymetry was willing to help Fred saved Fred even though she abandoned him in the episode with the dehydrating slugs, shot his (percieved) own father when he threatened her, tried everythink to turn her back.

thats just some things i thought of i actually always thought she should be with wesley although as hes my favourite character in angel that probably shrouds my judgement although i do think her and gun were good with eachother while it lasted
 
I think Joss intended for Fred and Wesley to eventually be together pretty early on (around Billy). After the incident in Billy, Wesley was afraid to speak up to her until it was too late and Gunn grabbed her first. I think Joss was just dragging it out and taking his sweet time before he put Wesley and Fred together.

I never thought Fred and Gunn had much chemistry. I can see Gunn with a character like Gwen, Faith or somebody a little more street smart. I think Wesley loved Lilah in the same way Buffy loved Spike (they understood each other and complemented each other on a deeper level), but Fred was his epic love the way Angel was Buffy's epic love.

I got a little annoyed how every guy on the show was in love with Fred when nobody except Angel and Doyle seemed to notice Cordelia (Groo doesn't count because he wasn't part of the team).

While Fred had Gunn/Wes

So its pretty even. But since these were the only Fang Gang Females, pairing them both off with someone from the group at the same time would just feel to weird.

Yeah I forgot about Conner (ughh) I guess it just seemed like in Season 3 and 4 Fred was getting all the attention (don't get me wrong, I love her) and then things for Cordy got worse and worse. I also felt like her character was underused in Season 2.
 
Oddly, I never count Doyle as someone Cordy "had". Sure he adored her, but it mostly seemed based on, "Cordy's a babe" and he wasn't exactly the type of guy I'd ever see her with. Especially with the irresponsible owing money all around town and the not exactly acting like any sort of grown up.
I kind of see Doyle the way I see Cordy and Wes. Kind of a strange infatuation based on very little.
And she DIDN'T KNOW until the end, so we can't really say they had anything that wouldn't have amounted to a date or two and then ending the same way Cordy and Wes did.

Fred is another story. I have to agree with David in the sense that I waffle back and forth. When she first shows up, I root for Wesley. When she's with Gunn, it's IMPOSSIBLE to imagine her with Wes. Even when Wes comes back and Angelus stirs the pot it's always like, "Oh, give it up and back off Mr. Head Boy!" Then, right at the last episode of S4, I start to realize she and Gunn and through and I go back to Wesley.

I guess that means the writers and actors did their jobs well. Still, she's actually WITH Wes for such a short time, it's hard for me to say that's who she SHOULD be with. Part of me knows it and I think it's the answer I would spit out if you gave me 5 seconds to answer the question. But, given time to actually think about it, I think I'd start to waffle.

We actually got to SEE more of Wes and Illyria those two, I like a LOT!
Then again, I am prone to picking Spike for just about anyone anywhere. I say, whoever he wants he should have just because he deserves it for always giving me the happys.
 
Wes and Illyria were really good together. I would have liked to see that develop. Tragic, but when did that ever discourage Joss?

Of course, Illyria should have Spike as a pet too. But that would add a whole different aspect to the relationship...
