I'm Chirstian. Not sure which one to click on lol, not Roman Catholic, forgot what the second one was to big of a word 😀 and i'm not the third one.

Have to respect that. Some people feel that if they've seen enough movies on witchcraft/wicca/earthly religions, they are qualified enough to call themselves one.

Most of us are born into a religion and forced into its acceptance by our family and the culture built around its religion. Whether or not we come to build our own belief system around those beliefs we are bestowed with by our family is our own choice. Too often, people are lacking in their piety by this forcing of religion...if more people were to educate themselves on the religions of the world, we might lead more satisfying lives. Or if the idea of religion is too man-made for you, the "when your dead, your dead" theory might work well for you too. Ok so my point of this rant was that its all about educating yourself...

Thank you Cordelia! Yea, personally I was brought up Catholic, and everything was forced upon me, like, 'this is the only thing that is right so you BETTER believe it!' (sry catholics 😛) It was too strict...With Paganism, the rules aren't set in stone, so you can variate them to your own beliefs (to a certain point...there are still rules that you have to follow).

This is just a reminder to all that I know this can be a heated issue..its also one I do like to discuss, but we have to remember that we disagree with ideas and not attack the people who propose them to us.

Shekinah raised a valid point, though the question was asked a little... eh... brusquely.

Without wanting to cause any offence to anybody, 95% of all the Wiccans/ Pagans/ Earth Religion followers etc that I have met were either certifiably insane (One lady earnestly explained that she's learned all the local countryside so that when she's reincarnated as a fox she can escape hunters more easily.) or 16 year old outsiders who wanted an angle. I'm not saying that anybody here is either of those, I'm just trying to explain why there's a certain... preconception about such folk.
 
I think the way wiccans are preconceived that way has to do a lot with Movies and TV shows that don't demonstrate what a true wicca is. I don't pride myself on wicca-knowledge, but I know enough to know that most of the media stuff on the subject is BS.
 
While I agree that humanity as a whole is bound by a common thread/heritage/what have you, I would argue that a person's beliefs, especially religious beliefs (i.e., the nature of God, the purpose of life) can create immensely disparate world views. Jill's mention of said "crazy" person proves that our core values determine to a great degree our actions, whether they be fiercely liberal or staunchly conservative, etc.
 
That woman* was madder than a bag of hats, but her main yelling point was her religion. Apparently nobody understood her, and we were all bigots, deliberately ignorant of her age old traditions and beliefs. Aside from the aforementioned fox reincarnation escape route, she also believed in Stephen King's Langoliers.

And oh, how I wish I was joking.

What I'm trying to say is that actual believers in the various earth religions are given a bad name by people like the aforementioned Langoliers fearing lunatic* (She reckoned they were coming with the millenium, so I presume she's disappointed) so it's not entirely non-believers' faults if our image of the religion based on the most vocal proponents. I'm just saying, cut us some slack and make us understand.

*The lady I referred to knowing in an earlier post.

And oh, how I was just trying to be nice, and oh, you are realling starting to piss me off.
