Craddle Catholic... 😀 I have faith but I really haven't known anything other than what I was raised with. I'm very happy just as is.
 
It may be important to mention that the "poll" will only reveal what the religious demographics are for viewers of shows like Buffy, Angel, etc. I know innumerable persons of my own faith who think me crazy for watching TV, anyway. Of course, I watch a lot less now that Angel's gone . . . :bawling: :hidesofa:
 
I was raised Jewish, sort of started to lean towards Catholicism, before I ended up realizing that, while I do believe in God, I don't really believe in organized religion. So that's what I'm going with now 🙂

Similar situation here :D
I am a Christian and quite happy to be one. I was raised with the ability to make my own choice in this world and I sought out and found what's best for me. I am however one of the rare "cool" Christians this world has to offer. I probably get more annoyed with people within my faith than the people outside of it because it is full of hypocrites and idiots. I can only hope that will change in time though I am very pessimistic.

Hypocrisy is prevalent in all of humanity, be they atheist, agnostic, or fundamentalist fanatic. Of course, the alternative is just as frightening; one has to wade through a mire of incongruities and murky moral dilemmas when adopting a personal philosophy of "no one's right or wrong, etc." What happens inevitability w/ Christians and/or religious activists in general is that they'll turn their devotion to Christ into a crusade. I, of course, believe in sharing my beliefs w/ others, but not judging them lesser than myself because they choose to live differently . . .

Im not sure if you're implying that I judge people because they choose to live differently but if you did I'd love to know how you made that leap from what I said into "she judges people who live differently". It's utterly fascinating how you came up with that. I'm always fascinated with how humans minds "work".

The only one making leaps here, m'lady, is you. I said nothing about you judging anyone. I was speaking generally w/ regards to how sometimes those less tolerant (meaning the hypocritical, etc. Christians I assumed to whom you were referring) have a tendency to esteem others negatively, hating "the sinner and not the sin." I do not target ANYONE, as you so brusquely and hastily assumed specifically. I typically attack general groups. Hah!

But seriously, if I could find the chill-pill smiley, I'd employ it here. I was actually supporting your sentiments, if only stating emphatically that hypocrisy knows no bounds, at least not religious or irreligious.

My parents are/were (my mother has changed her mind a bit) atheists so I had almost no contact with religion until I was like 14. I like a lot of things about different religions, I think Jesus and Mohammed had a lot of great thoughts and it's really interesting.. But I haven't found a religion that really suits me, and I don't think I will. So I could maybe call myself an atheist.. But I'm not against religions (like most of my friends are..).
 
I guess you'd be an Agnostic. An Athiest is somebody who is quite sure there is nothing. An agnostic is somebody who doesn't adhere to a specific religion, but doesn't discount the possibility of something being up there. And for more on that Topic, I believe the special cut of Donnie Darko is out soon...😀

Oh thanks.. I know what an atheist is I just didn't know the word for whatever I am. But I still don't know.. I don't believe in a god that can affect anything.. I don't believe in a heaven or a hell or anything like that. I just believe that there is something, maybe within yourself (that might sound like such a cliche), like maybe there is something more, a reason or whatever (now that's not right, I don't believe in a reason for anything.. I just don't know how to explain)..

Hehe, I love Donnie Darko, bought the dvd a couple of months ago.
 
I'm an athiest. I believe in somethings and not others but I don't bound myself to a religion. Although Religion itself baffles me and some of the cultures leave me awed I'd rather be allowed to live my life the way I like and allow others to do the same. I'm going to be studying Sociology for the next 4 years and hopefully there will be a chance for me to get to know some of the religions that I respect so much.

From what you're saying, you sound like you'd find Buddhism very interesting-Buddhist don't really believe in a higher being, but rather a balance and a way of life. I've read up on it, and it sounds quite interesting.

I don't really know anything about Buddhism. I was interested in it when I was younger, but never read anything about..
I think so many religions sound interesting, I just wouldn't be able to live after any religious rules or pray all the time and stuff like that..

I apologize for the misunderstanding as well:love17: but it's best if you're going to talk in generalities you don't quote someone else's post. I wouldn't quote someone else's post and then say "Some people just have no clue that when they write they sound like fart heads" 😀 It implies you're talking about them. Even if you're talking in general....it's all about perception in the net world because you don't really know anyone.:thumbs:

p.s. I wasn't upset so no need for the chill pill. I am a mod at a religious discussion board so nothing anyone says re: religion phases me anymore. My choice is mine and theirs is theirs. Not per se the Chrsitian stance on things (I should be trying to convert) but it's what works for me. ::dance::
 
I am a christian.I believe in God, the father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth...Me and my family are strong in our faith.I am an alter server.My uncle is a deacon.My family has a church choir.My family has alot of priests, and deacon member and friends.We go to church almost everyday.If you are an atheist, I just have one message, "Become Christian.It is the true Faith."🙂
 
I know you're young and all, but statements like the one you just made can be taken very harshly in a thread like this. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs and they also have a right to educate themselves on a religion and decide if it is the faith for them.
 
Lol...I know what you're trying to do!! I'm not saying, don't be proud of your religion, but saying your religion is the "true" religion can start wars 😀

It doesn't bother me too much, since implicit in every declaration of faith is the suggestion that it's the true one, but do bear in mind that the whole point of Athiesm is that we've already looked at religion as a concept and rejected it. And since we have no Aggressive Athiests here yet, none of us are trying to tell you to stop believing.🙂

However, it does raise an interesting point. Both Christianity and Islam tell their followers to try and spread the word... do you feel obliged to do so?
