Repeating storylines?

Buffy dies, goes to heaven, gets pulled out, in a way - abandons her friends, and temporarily loses her memory in one episode.

Cordy gets lifted to a Higher plane, comes back down, has no memory and relies on what others tell to her of what she was, stays closer to lesser of friends, resorts to high school persona in one episode.

Passion and Seeing Red share many similarites, formerly dead people have been brought back to life, God like creatures can share the same entites as humans without making this seem obivous.....I know a few of those don't seem too close, but does anyone else think there are a few too similarities within episodes?

It's a hard one to call, but Buffy produced 144 episodes, Angel 110, which is 254 episodes of TV - or 179 hours of entertainment (without adverts). There's bound to be similar storylines or arc's going on.

I thought they generally did a good job with keeping it to a minimum, and each repeated theme tended to be done in a different way to reveal more about our characters.

I agree with Kevin, if they did repeat a similar storyline they took it just down a different path to create something totally new for us, I never felt they repeated themselves over all 254.
