Repo! the Genetic Opera

Finally got around to renting it.... i dunno. Not in love with it. Had a whole bunch of interesting ideas, but i think they were poorly put together. Also, the girl who played his daughter drove me NUTS. it was her voice. couldn't stand it.

It is a visually amazing film though. And dare i say i didnt mind Paris Hilton in it? I think the Grave Robber is like the best character though.
 
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. Anthony's evil singing voice is insane! It still scares the bejeezus out of me. I don't really understand why some people told me it was gross and gory. I didn't really find it all that gory. I mean, the blood? So not realistic. And the human hearts? Soooo so so fake looking. They were fuzzy! It also took me a whole day to realize where I had seen the girl who plays Shilo before... Spy Kids FTW!!!
 
I first saw it months ago and have since checked it out many times from the library. I plan on buying it as soon I can. I absolutely love it.
 
Every so often I'll post "Zydrate comes in a little glass vial" on my FB, and it starts a chain reaction of like 6 of my friends doing the whole song one line at a time. XD

Ha, I wish I had friends who were awesome enough to watch the same movies I watch. No, they'd rather watch 27 Dresses. Urg.

I hated 27 Dresses.
I was just introduced to this movie! I love it and I can't get the songs out of my head. My boyfriend's friend showed it to him and then we got it from the library and I've watched it twice already this week. I really wanna buy the DVD. Anthony does a great job and I really dig the GraveRobber. 🙂
 
I was kinda surprised that Grave Robber was one of the creators of the show. He's got an interesting voices as well. It's kinda spooky.
 
I <3 the Graverobber. There's a deleted scene (that we actually see flashes of during "Zydrate Anatomy") where Amber comes looking for more drugs and offers to pay the Graverobber with sex, and I'm all "NO, GRAVEROBBER! DON'T DO IT! YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE SHE'S BEEN! Also, you're supposed to be with Shilo!"

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that because the whole time watching it I kept having this feeling about him. I thought he was REALLY good and had this great voice and he really felt to me like he knew more about the story than we were seeing, like he was in the original version and really knew what he was doing. Then I see he's part creator. :eek2: It's pretty cool. :cool2:

That's exactly how it felt to me too. I mean, he's kinda like a narrator in the beginning. I do kinda wish we could have gotten more back-story. The world they created seemed pretty cool; I'd like to know more about it.
 
They had plans to make a sequel, but unfortunately Repo! bombed so bad they're having trouble getting the money together. They've got reams of material to use; they started this as little 10-minute operas in a dinner theater. Terance Zdunich (Graverobber) says they could seriously make 5 movies with what they've got and not even break a sweat.

I... didn't like it. Sorry, guys! I watched it because of this thread and the scene that was posted in this thread (I really enjoyed "Zydrate Academy"). I really, really wanted to like the movie, and it seemed like it would be my thing, but... nope. Perhaps if there had been a better version? Anthony Head and Graverobber guy were fantastic, but the rest of the cast just didn't thrill me.
 
I think that this is one of those movies that you'll either LOVE or HATE. Choose wisely! 😛

Haha, oh Sarah Brightman. I never really liked her before, but they do something to her voice in some of her songs that makes it kinda cool sounding.

But yeah, I HATED it when she sang a song from Phantom of the Opera. Was it her and Antonio Banderas? Oy, what a nightmare!
 
well it wasnt ever her voice as much as HER, she looks like fish when she sings, blah. she in general just annoys me. I diispose paris hilton also, but we shall give this a go. Maybe ill watch it tonight.

I like how her lips look when she sings. Is that weird? XD And I don't care for Paris but really liked her in this. O.O
Okay, my friend made me watch Repo! the other day; because she thought I'd like it (Mostly for ASH), and I've now seen it three times. I can safely say I LOVE this film. Maybe it's because I adore musicals? And you can never go wrong with Anthony Stewart Head? But, whatever it is - Repo! is one of the best things I've seen in a long time. 😀
 
I remember watching this movie when it first came out and Ive loved it ever since, showed it to a lot of friends though and not many have liked it, suppose its a bit like marmite lol
