Something that I've been intending to ask for quite some time now, and just never got around to. concerns the length allowed for reputation comments. Sometimes we're only allowed a few words, barely more than a single sentence, and then sometimes it seems that there's no limit to how lengthy a comment can be. I've tried to figure out some sort of pattern or guideline for the difference, but if there is one, it's beyond me. But surely I'm not the only one to ever notice this.

So, having said all of that, can anyone provide any sort of reason for this, or is it just a random thing, allowing X number of words in one instance, and many more at other times?

I have always thought maybe it had to do with being on a mobile device vs. being on a PC or laptop. I notice I get off at a certain # of characters when I'm using my phone, but not on my PC.

This is just MY theory though. 😉

I always have to use 20 characters for the comment. Yet many people put up comments without any comment, just the ? ? agrees: or ? ? disagrees:
I'd go with the reasoning being, random.
As for the longer lengths of a comment, I've put two or three lines on more than one occasion.

Well, I would say the same parameters apply to the comments as the posts, but if you leave the comment blank it doesn't check against the minimum character count.

Weird, I just tried it out to replicate any of the issues you guys were having.

I tried to rep a thread in each forum, and was able to use up to 236 characters in each rep comment, across all the forums, or add a comment with under 20 characters.
