Restoring Souls Is Easy For An Uber Witch

It's interesting isn't it? What recuperative magic we do see appears to come from the dark side. Dark Willow heals Buffy of her seemingly fatal gun shot wounds. It requires a tranference from a demon God to restore Tara's mind. Even the slayer's recuperative powers have their roots in the heart of the demon.

Yeah but with Buffy's gun shot wound her limb weren't like destroyed. For Xander his eye is practically destroyed, but what Willow did was simply use telekinesis to get rid of the wound and of course accelerated her healing ability, but I doubt she can re-grow an eye, like she re-grew her skin.

Simply? I would think that would be one mean feat. OK, I'm going to stop chuckling here, and assume you're serious. Educate me in the art of mystical medicine. As I understand it telekinesis is moving objects with the power of your mind. What we've got is a hole, possibly more than one in Buffy's chest. We've got hemorrhaging, blood clotting, damaged nerves, and internal organs, whatever. Basically the main problem as I understand it is the blood isn't going where it's supposed to go. OK so Willow is going to take all that, and move it somewhere with the power of her mind. Where's is she going to move it? How is this moving of the damaged tissue going to repair Buffy's body? Wouldn't all the blood just burst out everywhere if you removed the clotting?

I'm not sure I understand why not. Would it just be skin? Wouldn't it be capillaries, veins, possibly even an artery or two, nerve endings, maybe even some bone. But it doesn't really matter. Willow did regenerate a whole new Buffy in the Bargaining, from her eyes to her liver. Again through dark magic.

Yes but the only reason Willow was able to revive Buffy's physical body was the Urn of Osiris, that's why she needed it, to recompose Buffy's de-composed body. But I mean re-creating an eye is in my belief FAR more complicated then pulling out a bullet and healing someone. Because again you must also remember that even with the wound inside of Buffy her healing powers are trying to work itself out, and I'm sure that with or without dark magicks Willow healing Buffy from a gunshot wound is far more easier then trying to give Xander a new eye, or even trying to heal Joyce from a brain tumor.

The urn of Osiris is an object of magic capability which requires magic to activate. So if the question is can magic ever be used in the Buffyverse to regenerate complex organic systems such as eyes, or if the need be even whole humans it would appear the answer is yes. (There's also the possibility of mystic transplants - Lindsey's hand). My point was simply when we do see examples of magically influenced recuperation, or regeneration, it seems to require some connection to the dark side of magic. I find that interesting.

Well I also don't necessarily think dark magick is simply all evil...like just because your tapping into black magicks means your tapping into evil magicks.

I assume you're talking about in the Buffyverse. The message there seems to be there are consequences to messing with the dark magicks. It's a lesson Willow learned. I always thought the suggestion there was there are boundaries even for a witch of Willow's power. We only have a general idea of what those boundaries might be. The specifics are perhaps what keeps Willow from doing stuff like mass ensouling vampires, even if she did have the actual power, which I'm not convinced yet she did.

I'm also wondering about the prospects of time, like I wonder if she could reverse time or go back in time or something like that kind of like what the Charmed Ones used to do practically all the time. And I always wondered why evil was always much much stronger then good, like Dark Willow is much more powerful then Good Willow. There's a First Evil but no reference or anything to a first good. There's Glory, Illyria, and Jasmine, and not to mention Wolfram & Hart. Black magicks are apparently more powerful then white magicks, etc.

Then why do the good guys always win? The outcome of
the witch's duel between Willow and Amy
in Season 8 should be interesting.

As far as Charmed goes, there's a lot of stuff in Charmed you're unlikely to see in Buffy. For example I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for mermaids, or Robin Hood. Time travel though...yeah they do seem to avoid that don't they. Wonder if there's a reason

I mean good always wins because there wouldn't be much of a television show for example if Buffy lost and died or Angel lost and died or Spiderman, X-Men, etc, etc. But also good always finds a way to defeat the evil that's why, it doesn't mean the good is stronger then the evil. For example Buffy wasn't stronger then Glory, but they figured out a way to defeat him, nobody was stronger then Dark Willow, but they figured out a way to stop her. None of the X-Men were stronger then Dark Phoenix but they figured out a way to stop her. And none of the Marvel characters were stronger then Onslaught but they figured out a way to stop it.

Well yeah that's the mechanics of it, but you might also say the reason they make evil so powerful is to provide tension so the good guy can battle the insurmountable odds. In the end though the good guy does find a way, so the message is that's the superior long run choice.

I don't think dark magic is more "powerful" than white magic. In fiction, I mean. I think it's just that people who use white magic know there are rules and such, and people who use dark magic do whatever they want. Personally I always imagine they're equal, that they're balanced.
