The turnout was fairly light, I think there were 17 of us. Well, not counting the two Angel and Spike action figures I brought, holding their miniature picket signs saying "Grr" and "Aargh."
We started at the Warner Lot, but after awhile one of the WB vice presidents stopped and talked to us, and pointed out that we should be at the Warner Ranch lot four blocks north, as that's where the WB network is based. So we walked up there for an hour or so, then walked back to be at the main studio a bit more for those showing up who wouldn't know where we went. Mr. WB Exec stopped by again, insistent that we go back to the Warner Ranch, and promising to send someone out to talk to us and give us Angel goodies. After debating amongst ourselves for awhile (what's his motivation for wanting us to move?), they suddenly realized that nobody had actually called the ME offices, and that THEY would be able to give the best advise as to where to go. Mutant Enemy were rather surprised to find out that we were having a rally, but after conferring with someone
else, agreed that the Warner Ranch would be our best bet. So we went back there, and stayed there until 6pm.
After awhile, one of Mr. WB Exec's fellow big muckitymucks came out, passed out goodies (Angel/Spike posters, Angel's tattoo stickers, and B/W 8x10 glossies of Angel and Spike -- Angel's were mock-signed, and the one of Spike was one that I've never seen before. Neat.),
and talked to us for a bit. He came out again later and talked for over a half hour, which someone got on tape. Most of it was just the corporate line, but he claimed that if we really want Angel to return, we should pressure Fox to lower its licencing fee, saying that they raised it the same way they did Buffy after the 5th year, which is why they can't afford it. Hmm. But they seemed almost happy that we were there, and even took pictures of us that they said were for the WB site. Well, possibly. We're still suspicious.
One of the rally organizers got in touch with someone who got in touch with James Marsters, who apologized that he couldn't come down and say "hi" since he's in the recording studio with his band all day, but thanked us all profusely for everything we're doing to try to save the show. I'm not sure how Nicholas Brendon found out about us, especially since it's for the "other" show, but he was apparently planning to come down and greet us, but his brother Kelly was way late in picking him up and he was stuck in traffic on the 405. Wow, Nicholas and Kelly were both going to show up to greet a bunch of Angel fans. So we stayed an extra hour, but they never got there. Darn. But still...
But we got lots of attention. Lots of honking horns, thumbs up, cries of "Yay! Angel!!" out windows. More than Nielson says, percentage-wise, watch the show. Ocaisionally some jeers and insults, but that always happens, especially since so many are sick and tired of any picketers after the 5-month grocery strike. A few elderly ladies gave horrified looks at the picture of Lorne that was on my sign, and many had never heard of this "Angel" show. But I noticed that passing studio trucks for Fox and Paramount always cheered, and most of the WB traffic in and out of the Ranch gave us huge grins at least, and often delighted honks and whoops.
There'll be much more detailed reports from the others, and lots of photos were taken that'll be posted as soon as the organizers return to Northern California. Right now I feel rather like I've been standing in the sun holding a picket sign for ten hours... Ow.

Dissapointing numbers indeed.....but then, there wasn't a lot of time to properly organize this. Perhaps another Rally somewhere else.....New York maybe (shameless hint dropping) would have a better chance.......
