Return of the King

What did you all think of it?

Great movie, outstanding battles. I need to see it again.

The ending was a little long, but it needed to be, in fact I was sort of pissed when it actually ended and some things weren't mentioned.

Kill Bill is still movie of the year though.

I've not had the chance to see it yet but I will as soon as I can. It looks very good and I enjoyed the other two so I am expecting good things from RotK too. As I've not actually read the books I don't know how it ends either although I am dying to find out what happens to them all - I have avoided finding out at all costs as I don't want to be spoiled before watching it! 😉

i just saw it today! OMG it was sooooo good! i loved it!!!!! legolas is soooo hot!!!!

I thought it was excellent. Well worth the 6-hour wait(midnight showings rock) The only thing that I was dissapointed about was The Scouring of the Shire was missing. But I guess that's going to be in the Extended Edition. Pippin's song was the greatest. I was crying during the whole movie, but during that part I was bawling. 😛 All together, it remained pretty true to the books, except Faramir/Eowyn, but I'll let that slide. I'm probably going to see it 6 or 7 more times. Yay for christmas break. 🙂

I thought it was absolutely amazing! A very satisfactory ending to a wonderful trilogy. I wasn't disappointed at all, mostly because I haven't read the books. (Please don't hurt me- I'll get around to it eventually)

i love aragorn and how he accepts his destiny and i love when he gets with arwen instead of that one blonde lady-i forget her name i love how sam is a hero and the end when they are all in the room when frodo wakes up is so good and how they were all united and gandalf is tight! i loved him hes so cool how he sleeps with his eyes open that was funny that was excellent and they all deserve oscars in my opinion

I went to see it last night and liked it but dodnt love it, the only book out of the three I have read is The Fellowship and it put me off the other 2 cos I thought it was sooo slow so I dont know what the book was like but I did think it was good, a tad cheesey near the end and I thought the ending was way too dragged out. they could have cut at least fifteen minutes of it and it still would have been effective.

yea you would get up thinkin its over lol after the aragorn/king scene i though it was over but there were like 20 scenes after that

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

What did you think? I loveloveloveloved it. It's my favourite of the trilogy...I sobbed throughout almost all of the last 40 minutes. It just contained so many phenomenal scenes, I can't even think coherently about the magic of it all...

Some of my favourite bits: beware of spoileryness -

I loved Eowyn taking down the King of the Witches- "I am no man" was such a Buffy-type moment!

Legolas singlehandedly taking down the huge elephant-thingy was just astonishing.

The entire subplot with Arwen and her eventual decision and reunion with Aragorn was beautiful.

The whole conclusion section was freaking fantastic- from the sailing off by the elves and the hobbits to the final, simply perfect scene. I cried and cried.

All of Gollum/Smeagol's scenes were awesome. From his origin story at the beginning to his final, haunting destruction, his chilling story sticks in the mind.

The Shelob sequences were stunningly freaky, gross and scary.

The entire battle of Minas Tirith was amaaazing. Great spectacle, nerve-shreddingly exciting.

Sam and Frodo's relationship is absolutely beautiful: the love and trust between them is so masterfully portrayed. Their journey is unbelievable epic, bleak, tear-inducing in its sheer majesty and scope...i love their story.

There's lots more, but I can't think coherently about it right now. I'm seeing it again later this week, i might have more to say then 🙂 Now i wanna know what you guys think!

SPOILERS:

I loved Eowyn taking down the King of the Witches- "I am no man" was such a Buffy-type moment!

I agree w/ everything you said Josh, this was such a good movie! I cried for alot of it too. I didn't know how it was going to end, so i was so afraid someone was going to die, well besdies gollum... I'm in the middle of reading the book now, and if you read the book, the whole thing w/ Eowyn taking of her helmet us supposed to be a big surprise, you're not supposedto know she was there at the battle, they didn't do that at all in the movie though...
omg at the end when frodo left and all the hobbits were crying..i cried so hard! I love merry and pippin! I loved pippin's song, and gandalf's song!! I loved this movie and i can't wait to see it again!!!

Well here's the thing, I really really really liked this movie, but I had 2 44oz Mountain Dews, and i didnt want to get up and leave the theatre, so I had to cross my legs, and my eyes to get thru the last hour of the movie, and then it kept,
ending and ending and ending and ending.........
everytime i kept thinking, god yes now I can use the restroom, but alas NOPE it wasn't over, It was like I was in hell and I was forced to drink and drink and drink, and I could never get up because the movie kept ending and ending and ending,

Closure People, when you watch this movie, I hope it gives you Closure.

lol. I had 4 cans of mountain dew before seeing it. Plus, it was the midnight showing, so i was extremely tired, but completely worth it. Can not wait for the Extended Edition! Hopefully, they'll play all three of the EE's once they come out in a theater, that would be amazing. But ROTK was great, highlight of the whole movie is Pippin's song, I was bawling by that point. 😛 I basically cried during the whole movie. Hehe, can't wait to see it again.

i actually got to miss an entire day of school to see it for a school trip, because im reading teh books in english. Im happy it was for a school trip to because i really liked the movie and probably wouldnt have seen it if it wasnt for school.Although 3 hours in theatre seats becomes VERY uncomfortable.

that was the best movie ever!!! i loved aragorn and legolas is my husband but anyway i loved arwen she is sooo cool

I loved this film. It was great. I was a bit disappointed that Legolas and Gimli weren't in it more, but when they were it was still hilariously funny. I loved the Arwen and Aragorn storyline, it was so sweet at the end. I did think it went on a bit at the end though.
