Realistically you can't have any of the main vampires return as the actors have aged too much now.

However if Spike had to return, then I'd want him off camera doing a voice over, like in In The Dark.

Slayers showed that having people just voice their characters does work. Yes, voices do change with age, but it's not as, well, visible. Given there is nothing to see.

As I have stated in the past, Data made several appearances in Picard, under the flimsiest of pretenses, with little to no effort to make him look younger. i suspect if the actors returned, something, something glamour, we would all be fine with it. I mean, half the original cast was well past their twenties, and aside from making fun of Cordie, we never questioned it.

I'm not opposed to recasting anyone, especially if the intent is going beyond a guest spot.

I would prefer to avoid extreme SFX shots, aside from maybe a few wrinkles and grey hair removal. But, David's head on a male model's body is not needed.

I agree, voices are always fair game. Even Nicholas Brendon can record lines without offending the other actors.

But frankly, the easiest way is to state that Angel got Shanshu'd and Spike acquired another boon to become human. Or the glamour route, you think vampires actually look like 16 year old Catholic Schoolgirls?

Data, and I assume Q given I believe John de Lancie reprised his role, both have the ability to change their own appearance. So, realistically and completely plausibly, they can appear as any age they want to. Perhaps they choose to apparently age to fit in. They could even appear in an entirely different form.

They could, but that's not really my point. An immortal character aging should be seen like character makeup changing, or re casting a character without explanation, or how two werewolves never look the same in this show.

Just have them stay in their vampire faces. Maybe Angel and Spike somehow went to a time-shifted dimension like when Buffy went to hell or when Angel was in hell between seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy.

We know that eventually vampires age out of their human features, it just takes a long time. So maybe Angel and Spike got stuck somewhere for the equivalent of several hundred years and now they're in permanent vamp face.

I don't want Spike or Angel or any more of the original characters to return. New Sunnydale is a sequel and sequels last more than one season by developing great new characters. Not by retreading the originals.

We have Buffy who will be 25 years older. A "Golden Girls" version of Buffy is not what new viewers will want. Buffy at 40 can work. The Scoobies plus Vamps plus assorted favorite side characters plus the new characters would be a mess. And I'm just thinking of the OG's being cameos.

Then there are the short seasons. Streamers are normally between 6 and 10 episodes. Not nearly enough time to waste on original characters. Think how the Potentials dragged down S7.

In all seriousness. The current streaming ecosystem is brutal. The chances of New Sunnydale getting renewed by Disney are already bad. NS needs to load up on interesting new characters that we all care about having interesting adventures as part of engrossing storylines. That is how you create the ratings that get streaming shows renewed for 5+ seasons.

When all has been said could Wednesday (courtesy of the show Wednesday) appear, even if virtually hidden by a tree. She could make some kind of helpful comment about a werewolf that has just come out of hiding?

I wonder if there will be any "good" vampire at all this time 'round. Its been done and done and done and will be done again in the twilight series. So maybe this series will stick to vampire bad, vampires must die and no grey area with vampires. Perhaps another type of demon will be the grey area here.

Yep, I wholeheartedly agree, and maybe the new slayer will not hop in the sack with the first vampire she sees.

Or any of them.
And if there was a vampire who enjoyed talking/ talking loudly from the bushes, where would he prefer the bushes to be? Could the bushes be near the entrance of where the owners of Sunnydale's Bronze developed a new nightclub for the kids, do you think it'd be pushing it to name if the Bronze?
