(I'm putting this here, rather than a specific Season section because it's a Season that never actually happened. Please, somebody relocate if I'm wrong)

Assuming that Buffy had not been cancelled, do you think that any of the regulars from would have been moved over to "Buffy" after "Angel" ended? This assumes, of course, that none of the had gotten new roles in other series, the way that Eliza had with "Tru Calling."

The obvious choices, of course, would have been either Spike, Angel, or both, but consider all of the "Angel" characters as possibilities.

Not sure. Both verses always felt very different to me, even the occasional crossover felt a bit jarring. If memory serves, Fred and Wes ?are out of the picture (since they died before the end of the series), so we're mostly left with... Gunn ? He wouldn't fit in with the Scoobies, imo.
Spike is obvious, and that would actually be him returning to a more suitable environment (wasn't a fan of what they've done to him in Ats) ; Angel I could get behind, but I have a hard time imagining what he could do around the Scoobies ; he's had a whole life on his own since the last time they interacted.

Overall, if you take into account all the characters that are already dead, the few still alive by the finale of Ats would hardly fit in with the Scoobies...the characters from both verses are too dissimilar, and the result would have been unsatisfactory, I fear.

Not necessarily. Remember, Spike died at the end of Season 7, then popped back up on "Angel" the next year. Death isn't necessarily a permanent thing in the Whedonverse. There was talk of making Fred and Illyria two separate characters, a sort of Banner/Hulk arrangement, if "Angel" had gone another Season. I think that she would have worked out quite well as a partner/companion for Willow. They seemed to hit it off well when Willow helped retrieve Angel's soul.

If Cordy hadn't have died then I think there would have been scope for her to make a Buffy comeback for sure.

Think seeing Fred on Buffy would have been cool. Lots of possilbities between her and Willow, as well as many of the others too. Could see her having some good scenes with Giles for example.

I liked the crossover episodes.

Would Spike have even moved over if Buffy continued? If he did then I could see both Buffy and Angel characters coming together for a Buffy season 8 set after Angel season 5.

I don't think they would have cancelled Angel if Buffy was still going.... but assuming they did I can't think of anyone who would be able to crossover. Maybe Illyria/Fred as one entity sharing the same body, but even then she seems like she'd be a anomaly.

I think Spike would have returned as a full time character, Angel would have made an appearance at the very least, and Illyria probably would have been mentioned.

I don't see any other the others being included in a storyline....but perhaps they would have been mentioned.

How's this for a plot twist? Fred comes to Sunnydale and strikes up a relationship with Willow. Meanwhile Illyria takes a fancy to Xander and designates him her "concubine." That's one that I bet Joss would have a ball with.
