This book was written by Mel Odom. Its set in series 3 after Cordy and Xander have broken up. It has a few episode references such as Willy, The Mayor and Slayerfest. They also references the crazy golf place from the episode Ted and that the Mayor was there which links into his comment to Faith. There's also a reference to W&H in LA.
This is a busy storyline - you have Cordy and Giles with research, Xander trying to find some mystery woman with Oz's help, Willow has a new friend and her magic helps with her friends brother and you also have Angel and Buffy with their patrolling. It does tie up nicely at the end though and it is interesting. The characters are hit and miss but the last few pages about Xander and Buffy are really touching.
