After watching Angel from beginning to end more than once I still think its a great show. With that being said it wasn't without flaws. A lot of the events that took place were interesting & definitely took the characters to new heights, but there were also events that took place that were really odd & confusing. With that being said what parts of Angel do you feel could be rewritten or removed all together & which events would benefit more from some rearranging?

Here are few major events that took place to refresh all of our memories

Doyle's death
Cordelia getting the visions
Darla's resurrection
Kate the cop
Pylea
Pregnant Darla/The Birth of Connor
The resurfacing of Holtz
Cordelia's transformation into half demon followed by ascension to a higher plane
The Beast
Faith breaking out of prison
Angel transforming into Angelus (for the first time on his show)
Evil Pregnant Cordelia
Jasmine
Accepting the Offer to work for Wolfram & Hart
Spike's arrival from Sunnydale
Illyria
The Death of Cordelia, Fred, & Wesley

Personally I think

Doyle's death should have been postponed possibly to the end of Season 1 as a part of the season finale

Cordelia shouldn't have experienced visions until Season 2

Darla shouldn't have been resurrected until Season 3 & should have never had a "miracle child" which would make the character of Connor non existent

Instead of Cordelia ascending to a higher plane at the end of Season 3 it should have been around Season 4 (EP 13 or 14 which would have coincided perfectly with Charisma's pregnancy)

What about you guys?

Evil pregnant Cordelia, Jasmine, and Cordelia dying (and maybe Fred too) are really the only things I have an issue with here. About the visions though, maybe instead Cordy experiencing the visions in season 2, her getting a vision could be the cliffhanger of the season one finale. Doyle dying in the finale would've been Really good though. It felt like a season finale anyway.

The Death of Cordelia, Fred, & Wesley

1 - Doyle's death was terrible for me. He was the first Angel's friend and, in a certain way, unique. Nonjudgmental and truly supporting. Wesley was not. Deep inside him there was always a rooted suspiciousness about Angel. Think about "Somnambulist", in which he assumed Angel was the Killer or "Origin" in which he suspected Angel was the responsible for Fred's death...
2 - Pylea Arc ...I can't stand it, but perhaps it's just me.
3 - Darla's Pregnancy and the Birth of Connor: why oh why the writers thought about this terrible turn of events? They could use Darla in any possible way but make her carry a baby was the worst thing they could plan. AtS was not a place for babies and Connor was, for me, the most annoying and disturbing character of the show. I agree with VK, who said in an interview:"Ultimately, they wrote Connor into a corner. There was nowhere for him to go. I think the majority of the fans really hated him and really hated me and getting me off the show was the highest priority. And I don’t blame them."
4 - Cordelia's transformation...it was a long lasted plan, and I hate hate what the writers did to Cordy's character! They simply ruined a beloved character, second only to Angel, and I can't forgive them for this.
5 - Evil Pregnant Cordelia: see above.
6 - Jasmine...unbearable
7 - Accept the offer to work with W&H... now you can see how dangerous is having Joss Whedon fully involved in AtS... The first three seasons were run by David Greenwalt and Tim Minear, who had a very different approach to the character of Angel ...Having them left, we have the destruction of Cordelia and the beginning of Angel's fall (continued in BtVS s8).
8 - Spike's Arrival from Sunnydale. Simply, Spike doesn't fit in AtS and he can't take the place of Cordelia. Remove a beloved character who was there from the very beginning and replace that character with someone who only appeared in this series once is a terrible disservice to AtS's fans and a service to BtVS's fans. However, because the show is called "Angel" , we, its fans, deserved more respect and attention!
9 - The Death of Cordelia, Fred, Wesley: see above (we, its fans, deserved more respect and attention!). Joss Whedon put too much emphasis in doing AtS a reversal of BtVS. So, if at the end of "Chosen" the core group is there, saved and intact, in AtS there was a butchery.

I wonder whenever Joss changes this pattern.

Three things for me!
- Doyle's death. (That happened WAY to soon!)
- The entire Season 4 story arc. (Teenage Connor, Evil Cordy, Jasmin . . . sorry, don't need it!)
- The end of Season 5. (The show ended per-maturely, and should have gone for at least one last season.)

3 - Darla's Pregnancy and the Birth of Connor: why oh why the writers thought about this terrible turn of events? They could use Darla in any possible way but make her carry a baby was the worst thing they could plan. Wow. Even VK hated the character. That says a lot, when the actors don't even agree with who they're playing.

I think that the character of Conner had the potential to be very interesting, but they went way too dark with him way too soon.

Also I think that they killed off Doyle too soon, the show was never quite the same after he left.

Cordelia's mystical pregnancy could have just been skipped, I think there could have been far more interesting ways to explain Charisma's pregnancy that wouldn't wreck the character dynamic.

I think the pregnancy could have been hidden all together imo. The offer that she got to ascend to a higher plane was perfect to do it. That offer should have came sometime in season 4 around episode 13 or 14 & been a part of the overall plot.
Whether it be from whatever they initially planned or the quick evil pregnancy, I don't think it was necessary to turn Cordelia evil. I just couldn't see a legitimate motive from Cordelia even if they had to chance to do that plot.

One of the major changes that I would have made to the series would have been expanding Kate's role, if for no other reason than as homage to the general private eye genre. In whatever media it is ever presented, P I's have always had their contact in the police department who serves as their source if the vital information needed to do their jobs properly. Granted, Lt Pat Sampson never gave Mike Hammer information about local demon activities, but it was established pretty quickly that Kate spent considerable time investigation the "unusual" cases around LA. That could have been expanded enough to beef out her role considerably, even if her interest was kept on a purely unofficial level. She could have fed Angel inside info on the "serial killer" who drains all of the blood out of his victims or the "psycho" who seems to kill people in a particularly savage manner every full moon night.

Also, I think that all Buffy/Angel crossovers (and there could have been as many as would have worked out properly, I'm not trying to keep the two characters apart) should have taken place in Sunnydale rather than in LA, simply because there wasn't any real reason for Buffy to ever go there. It was a different world, and Angel was fighting a totally different kind of war, the kind that doesn't include Slayers. On the other hand, Angel was familiar with what Buffy was doing around the hellmouth, and could be useful there.

Awww, I love connor! He's one of my favorite characters!

I don't get the hate.

I wouldn't have killed cordy though. I miss her when she's not there. (like how fred missed jasmine when she was just upstairs) 🙂

For the most part I agree with this, except that Buffy's father still lived in LA and visiting him was the reason that Buffy gave during one of the crossover eps. As far as Kate goes I completely agree, some of the best Episodes of Ats were the ones that featured her.

Angel transforming into Angelus (for the first time on his show)

Minor thing - and I'm not bringing it up to quibble (haha, I like that word) but why does it seem to be forgotten that angel transformed into angelus once before...In season 1, when that tv star (rebecca - I think) drugged his drink... and he got a dose of chemical bliss.... now sure it was chemically induced but the effects were the same. Angel became angelus. He belittled cordy's acting, he taunted wesley, using his insecurities that stem from his father never thinking he's good enough, and he tried to kill them. Why is there not only no mention of this but they make a point of saying that season 4 is the first time that wesley meets angelus, that prior to that he had only read about him?

Just curious.

I think the main one for me would have been Doyle's death. I think he could probably have done even another season, if not atleast until the end of season 1.

I'd of liked to have seen Faith involved more as well, even for a few more episodes before she went back to Sunnydale.

One could argue that niether of them felt like they had had a proper introduction to eachother.

What about you guys?

But I really loved Baby Connor! I couldn't stand teenage Connor though, ugh. I also wasn't a huge fan of the Jasmine crap in Season 4 but would she have just gone to the higher plane and never come back? I guess I would've been okay with that...but then StB wouldn't have happened. I honestly just wish that Wesley hadn't kidnapped Connor. Haha ... 🙁 or that Connor had just stayed in that damn hell dimension.

Things that should've been different:

1. Cordelia's Death - BIG NO NO 🙁 - she is the best character in the show.

2. Cordelia's rape and possession - This is evil and mean, why would Joss do that to my favourite scooby? 🙁

3. Connor getting kidnapped by Holtz - Cangel and the gang should've gotten a chance to raise him 🙁

4. Moving in to Wolfram & Hart - Boring and stupid storyline that made nos sense to me, and Cordelia wasn't in that season, so that whole storyline is nothing to me!!
