Add the name Richard O Sullivan to the list of entertainment wannabe's attempting to create a name for themselves by insinuated some kind of tenuous connection to the Joss Whedon name. (Remember that British pop singer guy who claimed he was going to be doing a new Buffy with himself playing Buffy).

O Sullivan is worth mentioning though, because somehow he manages to get internet-play for his outlandish rumours.

He's the guy behind the Spike as male slayer rumour at the start of Angel Season 5.

Apparently he has some kind of connection to some minor actress not worth mentioning by name, and he created another rumour suggesting Miss Nobody was up for the Wonder Women role. Again Joss Whedon's name was mentioned due to the unconnected rumour of Whedon for Wonder Woman.

His latest endeavour in self-promotion through rumour is the most desperate one yet. According to this guy the Kuzuis want to do a Buffy series without SMG, or any Joss Whedon connection. He of course would write it. It's some ludicrous idea about Buffy waking up in the future.

I'd link you to the guy's website, but the site has a reputation for crashing browsers, and even managed to slip a pop-under behind my Firefox.

O sullivan does have some kind of indepent film production operation in North Carolina. He claims to have done some shorts, a film, and a televion series. I of course, Googled, but could not find any evidence of anyone ever having actually seen any of them.

I should mention he does appear to have had a connection with a series of public service announcements NBC put out. I found that interesting. Remember the Angel to NBC rumour. "Inside sources" were mentioned. I'm not saying it was O Sullivan, but judging by how many of these "inside sources" rumours turn out to be bogus, I can't help thinking if you could trace them down, O Sullivan might be the kind of person you'd be talking to.

If you want a chuckle, check out his biography at IMDB.com. It has one possibly verifiable assertion where he claims to have been a disc jockey at one time who got fired from a lot of little backwater radio stations.

So anyway...a little heads up alert. If you see the name O Sullivan or LostColonyEntertainment connected to a Whedon rumour, you know it's bogus.

That almost sounds like some weird Hollywood alias, like a tribute to David O Selznik.

I don't know. His name is Richard though, it's confirmed he's a "Dick".
I read the synposis for the "future Buffy" show and I was just thinking "right thats nice but...stupid". Gonna run through its stupidity, just because I like being mean.

1. Another actress as Buffy. Yes I know it happened before but Kristie played Buffy for what, 90 minutes? We have seen Sarah as Buffy for 144 episodes (which is roughly 6300 mins) and it would just seem to bizarre to have another actress as her.

2. Buffy frozen in time? Hmm seems too futurama for my liking, and too desperate to get out of the whole Sunnydale 2000(ish) time period that the show is in. Buffy was frozen during a fight, but wasn't Buffy meant to pretty much give up the slayage?

3. The guy states that the show would be interesting because "now she [Buffy] has to wrap her head around concepts like vampires and demons having free will and coexisting with humans in everyday life" um didn't vamps/demons and humans coexist in Buffy? Its not like she didn't sleep with two of them and befriend Clem at any point.

4. No mention of anything Joss created (which is everything apart from the fact that Buffy is a Slayer)? So Buffy just wakes up in the future and doesn't think about anything from her past, such as "ooh wonder if Angel and Spike are still kicking around"? Buffy cares about her friends, it would be absurd to see her not. Also Joss put a lot into the Buffy mythos, what parts would this new show be allowed to have and what parts not. The first slayer? Thats Joss'. The idea that there are more than one slayers? Again Joss. Most of the facts regarding how vamps are/look/live. Again, Joss.

5. Seems a bit too desperate to earn money off the back of a franchise, which reminds me of a certain Miss Berry in tight leather.
