Ricky Gervais is my God

Why?

He was funny as David Brent, hilarious even, but all of his characters have been exactly the same.

Thing is, I have met him in real life a couple of times at a friends party and he IS David Brent.

There is nothing special about this guy except he co-wrote The Office which is fun.
 
I find him to be very funny...i admit Peter Kay has more talent for creating original shows and characters. Like max and Paddy and Phoenix Nights . How lucky you to have met him 🙂
 
Personally, I cannot stand Gervais. He comes off as an arrogant sh**e, seeing him presenting at the Emmys only confounded that.

Its not luck, he is just like you and me. Nothing special, in fact I found him a touch arrogant.

I went to school with the wife of the guy who played his male boss in season 2 of the Office.
 
You can be arrogant and funny though, most people in ths world are arrogant shites. I seen Gervais doing Fame live, it was alright, not as good as I thought it would be.

I agree, most comedians have to have some amount of arrogance attached to them but Gervais, for me anyway, is just arrogant without the funny.
 
i like some of his shows and stand up, i cant say hes not funny cause he is but theres just something about him i dont like... you know when someones just not right?
 
I like him. He's obnoxious and a sarky git. And it's the fact he is ordinary and like us that makes him funny. It's like having your mate being abusive to everyone. He shows no deference. And if he's a little close to the mark? So are many people you may meet on a daily basis. He's just lucky enough to be making money from it.
