Fans stunned by Rihanna reconciliation - Yahoo! News UK

Ok, I know there has been no confirmation that it was in fact Chris Brown that attacked Rihanna but lets pretend that all the rumours are true (which they really seem to be).

It is now being reproted that she is taking him back?!?

This is ludicrous! If the pictures are anything to go by she was brutally beaten by him...how can she stand to even be in the same room as him nevermind reconcile?!?

I firmly believe celebrities shouldn't let their status dictate every decision of their lives but Rihanna has always maintained the persona of a strong, independent woman and the message she is giving out right now is horrendous. Not to mention the damage she is possibly doing to herself by going back into the arms of her attacker.

I don't understand it at all.

What has everyone else made of this story?

Wow. I don't know what to say. If she does get back with him, my respect for her will be severely damaged.

Three words, if true: What. The. FRAK?
I don't like Rihanna one bit, and I like Chris Brown even less (if possible.) But it's never nice if you're boyfriend beats you up, so I do feel sorry for her.

Her taking him back is just stupid. I bet it;s some manager-inspired thing, I mean, loads of Rihanna fans are Chris Brown fans and vice versa, so their relationship was fortunate to say the least. But seriously, guys who beat their girlfriends up are no good and deserve to be punished.

I heard some other reports where Rihanna is supposed to have told L.A. PD that it wasn't the first time he was violent towards her.

I can understand the girl being fragile at the moment, I can even understand her still being in love with him and her emotions being conflicted but I don't know how she can go back to him...I really really don't. It seems physically impossible to me.

I think this is a really bad decision

1. It's bad for herself

2. It sends a message to young girls that even if they are in an abusive relation that they should just forgive the man and stay with him, which is a really bad message to send

She needs to thing about herself and the repercussion that this will have on her fans, weither she want it or not, she is a star and people look up to what she does and she is right now obviously doing something wrong.

Plus, if she gets back with him, people will eventually just forget about what Chris Brown did and they will keep giving him jobs, which is an horrible thing to do, a guy like him shouldn't be a singer nor in the industry of publicity. I'm glad that at least they took him out of that gum commercial. (that is of course if he actually beated Rihanna which looks like he did)

If it's true, she's a dumbass. That's all i have to say. And he's a tool. How constructive. 🙂
There are those pesky rumors that she is pregnant with his child, and that's the reason he flipped. Really hope that's not true. Still, that's no reason to take him back. Girl needs some common sense, asap.

If she is pregnant with his child and that is why he freaked then he is even more of a turd than I thought.

Not always, but this is generally the cycle that happens in these type of cases.. it's sad. Somebody needs to knock some sense into her, for her physical and mental well-being (this isn't healthy). I even hear her father is supporting her throughout whatever decision she makes at this point, I personally would be hiring a Doll to blow his brains out. And by taking him back... it's going to have some repercussions - on her career. Positive? Not likely, I think the opposite. That's what I'm predicting.

If it's true it will be very hard to take her seriously when she is singing about being strong and not taking any shite. I can't listen to Take a Bow or Breaking Dishes anymore. And I haven't listened to Brown since the story broke. It's tainted somehow. The thing is, my sister (who is 16) was just gushing a few weeks ago about Brown's concert in Dublin and about how lovely he was. A young Irish fan of his who had a ticket for the concert died a couple of days before, he got word of it and dedicated a song to her and to her friends who were at the concert. My sister and all her friends thought this was the most amazing thing ever, she couldn't believe that this was the same person.

What a smart woman. She is truly an inspiration to young girls around the world. In a culture filled with examples like this, who wouldn't have the utmost confidence in today's youth?

Seriously, though...SERIOUSLY?! I honestly don't know who I'm more upset with, her or Chris.

This is terrible if it's true!
She is not only a) being bad for herself, but she is also b) telling a whole bunch of young girls who may look up to her that it's perfectly OKAY to get beaten the [$*!#] beaten out of you by your boyfriend and to go back to them afterwards!
I am very disappointed! I didn't really like her before (except for that one song of hers that played in the pilot episode of GG), but I felt incredibly sorry for her when I found out about him beating her. But honestly, if this is true? I don't even respect her a single bit. This is TERRIBLE.

Ugghh I agree with everyone here. I have never liked Rihanna, if I heard that damn Umbrella song one more time when it was heaps popular I was gonna rip my own ears off, and him? well I never liked him and this story pushed how I felt into discust and a kind of hate. I did feel sorry for her when I first heard about this. Alot of young girls look up to her and if this is true, its definately sending the wrong message for her to get back together with him. I guess I understand her still being in love with him, sometimes you just cant help that, we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors with them. But what he did is disgusting, whats it gonna take? him to beat her even worse before she gets it through her head that this guy is bad news? lets hope it dosent come to that.

Hmm - well as none of us know the exact details of any part of this relationship, just what is in the media, I will refrain from commenting on what has transpired (as much as I am opposed to violence against women from men, if a man sang Umbrella, I'd beat him!!!).

However, I don't believe there is any circumstance when one person in a relationship should abuse another and IF one person is being physically abused, then the abuser will, most likely, offend again, so by going back, the abused is giving the abuser the, probably unintentional, belief they are OK to do something like this.

This doesn't help the abused BUT it also doesn't help the abuser who really ought to seek help on control.

I can see this from both sides.

I've never been in an abusive relationship, so I don't know how I would react if my boyfriend started smacking me around one day. I would like to think I would have the strength to walk away and not have anything more to do with him, which is what I think Rihanna should have done here. Not just because she's in the public eye, but for her own sanity. The reports say she's not coping well with the story being leaked.

But on the other hand, if she has taken him back, I can understand why she did it, or at least I think I do. Clearly she loves this man, and she's willing to try and stand by him while he overcomes this problem. She wants to be with him, and sometimes love can blind you into things that aren't necessarily for your own good. Maybe she thinks she can help him, I don't know. But until any of us are put into that situation, none of us can say what we will or won't do. Looking from the outside, we know what Rihanna should do, but we don't have all the details, and we don't love this man like she clearly does.

Re:

Well...Her father is behind her 100%...So apparently she comes from a family of not-so-bright ones. I can't say my father would be quite so thrilled...or agreeable.

Wow...How stupid can you get? It's a golden rule not to go back! He'll do it again, and she'll take him back again...I felt sorry for he rat first, but if she's this stupid, I don't care. One day she'll wake up, and realize what a, as Jen said, dick she is, and dump him!

Do any of you know stuff about like battered women?
Because her going back to him makes perfect sense to me if this is the case.
