Ok, a controversial character with the fans. The big question: do ya ::heart:: 'im or hate 'im?!

Personally, i think he was dull and bland and there was a lack of chemistry between him and buffy. Although in posters etc and in buffy, you have to agree marc blucas is gorgeous! What a body! 😉

I never liked Riley much..I didn't hate him, but there wasn't that much to him - i thought he was boring. Yes - he's quite good-looking but nothing like as stunning as spike!! or angel......lol. So I don't think there's really anything special about riley, I found him a bit annoying too...
 
Thats exactly what i would say about him - to a tee.
Hes average, nothing special.

i said i don't like him.
he was boring. well, at first i liked him, then i hated him, but when he came to buffy in season six, i guess i thought he was kind of cute again.
so that's all i can say.

I liked his and buffys 'moment' when he returned in season 6 - it was kinda touching!

Well, I really didn't feel anything about him. He was no Angel and no Spike. Both men just "had" something special to them. Marc is gorgeous and all but his character was just stale, I think.

I never really liked Riley too much. He just never could compare to Angel. But, now that I think about it, I don't dislike him. I actually thought he was sweet, goregous (of course), and maybe even something 'special'. I didn't think it was the intent of the writers to get us to hate Riley, and yet, so many of BtVS fans hate him. When you really think about Riley, what was so bad about him?🙁
 
either way is fine with me, 🙂..like FiveByFiveB said, what's bad about Riley? When you think about it..he really isn't that bad
 
Thats just it though - i mean, he wasnt bad as such, just . . . right, with spike and angel, lotsa people love them, they have a certain spark to their character, something special. The problem with Riley was just that he was an ordinary guy!

Thats an interesting and unusal view. Apart from being a steady guy from her, why did you ::heart:: him? Did you not find him a bit boring?!
 
He did try, revenge demon. But i still belive he was dull!
Marc is hot though! But Riley lacks that 'special something', if you know what i mean!?

Hate is such a strong word. That's why I use it. I never liked Riley. Ever. He was so freakin' bland. "Can I get a side of bland with that bland?"- Doyle. No character could ever be as 2 dimensional and crappy as Riley was. He takes the cake. Goobye Riley, and don't come back!
 
He had hard shoes to fill.

I for one liked him, although in season five he got realyl annoying and in season 6 he was great, so I like him, but I'm leaning towards okay. I don't think he's that boring, he's just way different than Angel and lots of fans compare the two and they're not very much alike at all.
 
He was so annoying. He was boring. Buffy seems to like her men with a little sparkle and get up and go. He was always a company boy. I didn't like him in S6 at all. Oops sorry forgot to mention I was married, nah he just liked the attention. And as for letting vamps suck his blood? Buffy let Angel because he was going to die and Dracula had her under his spell. Rileys excuse was what...lame! Do you get the impression I don't like him 'lol'!

I am impressed with the way you managed to convey your hate in such ane emotive way in words! Lol, and you too, Little Bit! Hehe.
I do kinda agree, Pezz, about the comparisons, but Little Bit, i agree about the sparkle. I was saying that exactly - Riley lacks that 'special something' - or sparkle, as you put it!!!
