Well I not srue if there's a thred like this here. So if so Moda can close this thred.
So I was looking adound and didn't see any thread's for Riley. So I thought why don't I put up a thread about waht we liked about Raily.

So Waht do you guys like about Riley? Also waht did you not like about him?
 
I really disliked Riley at first. But that's because I'm a bangel and he was brought in too soon after Angel left. I just kept comparing him to Angel and he didn't come close. He was too clean cut, to perfect and...homely.

But watching it now, I like his character. He was the complete opposite of Angel but he was what Buffy needed at the time and he was reliable.

Riley, or more accurately, the Initiative always bugged the crap out of me. I'm kind of thinking, ok, writers, did you do ANY research at ALL about how the military works? Have you ever even seen a war movie? Sorry, sorry, I could do a whole post just on how badly written and researched the military hierarchy is in Season 4, but that's not the point.

I like Riley entirely because he's the kind of guy that I would want to date. I don't think he's best for Buffy, so in the context of the show, I don't like him as Buffy's boyfriend. I would like him WAY better as my boyfriend 😉 !

Liked about Riley...The Day he left the Show...lol 😀

Disliked... Everything you look up the word dull in the dictionary and there's a picture of Riley... As you can tell I'm definately not on the Riley Fan Wagon
 
Ok what did i like a bout riley, i liked the fact he didnt last long, and i hate everything else about him, i loved that episode where he got leathered by angel but then when buffy was there he was acting all big andhard bigging up to angel even though he'd just been beat up by him, he must've known that he was weak in comparison to angel i mean it would have been like sending a piece of cheese to fight a mouse lol

What did I like about Riley...his BODY! Kidding, but I have ta say- WOW! But on a serious note, he was completely reliable and sincere, gave his all in every aspect of his life it seemed. And above all he was HUMAN! (Of coarse I myself prefer vamps....LOL.)
 
I hated Riley for the longest time but in the last month I have been watching the fourth and fifth seasons and I realized something. I like his character! He will never be as good as Lindsey or as hot but he is one of the best BTVS characters!

Likes-He's nice, loyal, he reminds me of a puppy, and he's a total hottie

Dislikes-He can be a bit dim
 
I am not a big fan of Riley. His character was just too...bland, dull, boring, and whatever other adjective that means about the same thing. I also hated the Initiative, because they were really annoying and evil, but that's a whole different topic. But I liked Riley way more than I liked Buffy in season 4 and 5. He was really nice to her, and treated her so well, and she really took him for granted. But he was just too boring to really hold my interest. Oh, I almost forgot: He is really hot!!!
 
Liked: Quite a lot. S4 of Buffy was my favourite, I just enjoyed the sci-fi element and Riley played a large part in that. I didn't think he was boring, he clearly had a deep history with the initiative, and was more rebellious than other initiative people. I really enjoyed watching him try for Buffy. And his final (S4) fight with Forrest was pretty cool. Marc was a good actor imh

Disliked: He was brough in a bit too fast, which made him seem like an Angel replacement. That's all I can think of.
 
I disliked him more than I liked him! :rolleyes0 I just found him increasingly annoying each and everytime he was on screen. Honestly I actually felt like missing a few episodes because he was in it! I know it's harsh, but I didn't really like him at all, just not at all!

He was very hott lol and drool worthy but i didn't like him at all as a character didn't like his attitude or whatever. And when he made buffy choose to either open up to him in her hard time or he was leaving that just put the frosting on my dilike cake. Although when he came back to town married i hate her for taking him from buffy and him for letting her. So i guess he was a 50. 50 thing. I do however Love Marc Blucas he played Riley well even though i disliked riley. He is an awesome actor and gotta give him props for what acting he has done. :d
 
i watched buffy S5 before S4, so all i saw was riley slowly going down hill, and being fed on by vamps, and leaving buffy right when her mom was sick, so i HATED him.
then i watched S4 and i realized that he was actually a really sweet guy who realy did love buffy.
so to answer the questiom, i liked riley in S4, but hated him in S5. in S5, after the initative went away, i think riley stopped being useful and he kinda just drifted through the show until the ep he left.
 
I disliked Riley, although I think I would've enjoyed him more if he had paired up with Willow, instead of Buffy. Mostly because from the moment that Riley was introduced it was clear that he would be a villian or a baddie and I think that if he had been paired off with Willow after Oz, I think it would've been more surprising and I probably wouldn't dislike him as much as I do now.
 
Riley was a transition relationship for Buffy, a relationship just to get over her previous one, and so she didn't really love him, and as a result neither did the fans I think.
