Rio 2016

Guys, guys, the horsey and water talk is getting a bit much for me!😀

Then I am about to discuss the swimming so you know....😱

Impressive performance by Michael Phelps last night he was veery dominant and it was an exciting race. I'm glad he stuck it to that cocky Hungary swimming who in the end didn't even medal.🙂

I am watching the womans basketball - aussies winning... I havent seen the medal tally, how is that looking?

I love watching Penny Taylor play, she's been great so far. Aussies def. have a shot at getting a medal!
Oh I need to check out some basketball at some point. It maybe because I'm British but I do take a fancy to those American sports that are alien to me.

Womans 'football' now Aussies winning again.

Me thinks some shit will be flying if Russia stay in the top five😉 Am hopeing that GB can at least repeat their 2012 performance and make the top three by the end.

That would be great, but I think doubtful. I'd be happy for top 10.

Every Russian medal is under suspicion with me 😱

Yeah we don't seem to have the strength in deph that we had four years ago and I guess some of our best performers have retired since then. Being home Olympics was a big factor too.

I do feel bad for the Russian athletes who didn't cheat. If they win a medal its going to be questioned without a thought.

Well done to Sally Conway for picking up the Bronze Medal for GB in the Judo today🙂 She was impressive throughout the day and seems like a sprited and bright girl. I can detact a cauliflowered ear too😀

Hockeyroos vs gbr 3rd quarter, no score.

I think the womans hockey do well for Oz. I saw some touch rugby last night that I didnt even know was an olympic sport! Thats cool. I like team sport. Some of the individuals get ridiculous about it. A team seems more humble somehow? Not to take away from achivement, but many on teams need other careers where as swimers can be a career swimmer - get what I mean?

The Olympics are about more than just cheering for our own country, what a great story this is:

Majlinda Kelmendi wins Kosovo's first Olympic gold medal - CNN.com
I know it is. That's what I love about it. That's a great story. The Olympics are about people coming together and representing their countries and really humanity in general. Breaking new barriers and reaching your goals. Like the USA women that was the first to compete while wearing a hijab. There's a lot of inspirational stories.

Some fantastic medal winners overnight for GB! Makes me feel very proud of my country and it's talented sports people 😀

I have nothing against team sports and do enjoy things like Handball (on yes I said it!😛) and Hockey. But to me something like Rugby doesn't feel like an Olympic sport. Its a similar problem I have with Tennis being at the Olympics. The highest standard for Tennis is competing at Wimbledon or one of the other big name tournaments. Its just not the same at the Olympics and goes against the tradition. Same with Rugby.

Can tell you're an american😀 To me sport should be about dirty tactics and cheating, basically doing anything you can to win. Not just that I want to see colourful characters who disrespect one another off the field/track/pool etc... That is what sport should be about. And that is why Football and Pro Wrestling are the two best sports in the world😛 I enjoy watching the Olympics but all this talk of humanity makes me want to puke😉

There should be a series of four Olympic games:

1. Natural
2. Pharmaceutically enhanced
3. Genetically modified
4. Science Project

Haha - I didnt even know it was Handball - not a dig. It looked like touch rugby so thats what I called it - and the Aussie women won gold 😀

Doesnt look quite as fun without the mud though..

Yeah some of the ~*heartwarming stories*~ are no more than I WANTED IT SO I GOTTED IT!

I watched Mary Hanna (soz not checking spelling) in the Dressage. At 61 yrs old she give us riders hope that we wont all be broken by that age lol. Fit AF. I could probs last all of 2 mins into a dressage test before falling off, and laying in a puddle of drool and pee.

Olympics is all about getting there and doing your best and if your country wins too - BONUS. Just to get there is the biggest achievement for many, and you'll notice some athletes will move country to get there.

Hope this double posties

Bronze for K1 aussie woman - stoked.

I think the media forgets that when you are competing against a world class line up - Bronze is fanfkintastic and not a loss!

I really hate some of the articles I have come across when reading of results. "disappointing" "too old" " not tough enough" are just a few examples - awful awful journalists!

@OccaQuokka Agree Bronze is fantastic! It's the bloody Olympics, it you get Bronze you are the third best person at that sport in the world!

The BBC are pretty good at bigging-up the Silver and Bronze winners and giving them as much attention as the Gold's, especially if they are well know like Tom Daley the diver, who won Bronze and was all over the tv, getting tons of praise, for two days

Canada got its first gold medal! Not only that, but first gold in swimming in over 20 years! First athlete to get 4 medals at a summer Olympics! A world record! And the girl is only 16!!! Congrats Penny Oleksiak!

Our girls are kicking butt this year! (and yes 7 medals might not be much for you Americans 😉 but us Canadians don't even know what summer is, so you know, it's kinda nice 😛)

...Make that 8 medals!

I don't know why the British are so good on bikes, but I am so glad we are 🙂

Dunno about where you live, but round here there are so many people on bikes! And quite a few road races too.
