RIP Anne Rice

RIP. My first introduction was with the film of Interview with a Vampire. Not got around to any of her books, but she is a true icon and was ahead of her time. The influence will live on.

Wow! how sad. And what a lovely tribute from her son.
I love her Vampire Chronicles series. All three paperbacks have permanent places on my bookshelf.
I wouldn't mind attending her celebration of life. I bet it will be a good time.

Her Vampire Chronicles were my introduction to the creatures, and created a lifelong fascination that indirectly led to Buffy and this group. It's been a long time since I read one of her books, but I still remember the feeling of being immersed in the world of Louis and Lestat. Great writer who has few equals. RIP.

She is even mentioned in Buffy. In School Hard, when Angel meets Spike, we get this exchange:

Spike: Yeah. Come up against this Slayer yet?
Angel: She's cute. Not too bright, though. Gave the puppy dog 'I'm all tortured' act. Keeps her off my back when I feed! (laughs)
Spike: (laughing) People still fall for that Anne Rice routine. What a world!

A lot of the vampire mythos would have disappeared without her.
