RIP to a true heavyweight! At these times more than ever her example shines bright. Such a inspiration to future generations. If you haven't already check out the documentary about RBG from a few years ago.

Though I never shared the lady's political views, I recognized that true rarity, a dedicated honest public servant who always gave her best. A true champion for her cause. Sadly, her death at this strategic moment might result in a media/political circus as the Democrats and Republicans both try to increase their power in the Supreme Court.

I am very sad to hear this. I think of RBG as the absolute pinnacle of what a Supreme Court Justice should be: she stood for personal liberties. However you wanted to live your life (within the law) was cool with her - she wasn't about taking away or giving rights, she was about giving people the choice to live their lives, she was about trusting people to make decisions for themselves. She thought people were the experts in their own lives - who can disagree with this?

May she Rest In Peace - her legacy will be remembered for years to come.

Though I don't agree with activist judges, she certainly was a trailblazer and by all accounts an all around nice person. RIP

She was a voice the country needed and still does. Trump stated on one occasion that he would not appoint a new judge in an election year. It remains to be seen whether he is true to his word.

I had no beef with Ginsburg until her little dying wish proclamation. Worrying about the future of the country and thinking we should wait to replace her. Tsk. What a shame, That made me lose respect for her.

I don't lose respect for her, but I do think it's a ludicrous argument for why not to elect someone else. There are better ones.

Also, presidents have always nominated someone for Supreme Court if there was a vacancy in an election year, it's that a Senate of a different party than the president has not confirmed a nominee in an election year since the 1800s.

But the whole thing with the Obama administration wanting her to step down before his term ended so that they could help ensure her successor and her refusing to make the position be about politics... then all of a sudden it did become about politics. It's like wanting to have your cake and eat it too.

To be fair, with her age and health issues she probably should have stepped down then, if she really cared about ensuring a Democrat-nominated successor. That makes more sense than saying it's her dying wish.

Some would say that Ginsburg's death is terrible timing for the democrats as it makes it more difficult for them to contest the election results and try and change the outcome with mail in voting since there is now only 3 democrats on the panel.

I think Trump should nominate someone to fill the spot.
