Do YOU have swiper's thumb?

Now, soaring numbers of people are suffering from swiper's thumb due to the overuse of smartphones.

New research claims the overworked digit has become as much as 15 per cent bigger on people's dominant hand.

Young adults aged 18 to 34 have noticed the most changes, with one in eight developing the deformity as a result of continuous tapping and grappling with large handsets.

Hmm, both my thumbs look the same size. I like to vary my swipping with different fingers though. Sometimes the index finger feels better. My phone isn't massive though.

I don't think it's the size of the phone that matters but the motion of the swiping. You can have a smaller phone but still get an RSI from swiping too much.

I've never noticed any pain, I do feel stiffness and pain during/after gaming on the PC. That hurts. Real bad.

It hurts me to be PC as well.

No, I don,'t have swiper's thumb...but I do have gamer's thumb lol
Gamekeeper's thumb is a real thing. The 'swipers thumb' injuries are actually that. Not sure that gamer's thumb would qualify for medicare coverage though... but 'swipers thumb' could!

My right thumb is slightly bigger!

Now I'm paranoid about it. Has it always been bigger? Am I on my phone too much? Do I have swipers thumb? Does my thumb really hurt or an I imagining the pain because of what I just read?

Omg! It's true. Thumb reduction is going to be the next plastic surgery trend.
lol! That's kinda funny. Well on the phone I use both hands equally. Actually that might be due to me being a gamer. I definitely have better hand dexterity than a lot of people though (which might also be due to my job). Fun fact, apparently gaming also makes better surgeons, so it's not all bad 😛

Gamers Make Good Surgeons

I know it was a thing in AtS S5 after Spike had his hands chopped off, they gave him a games console for exercise, but I'm pretty sure they do that in real life for hand injuries, to build up dexterity.

This is ignoring the fact he was clearly playing a Nintendo game, but the console shown was an XBox *nerd alert*! 😀

Is your thumb slimmer? Exercise is meant to promote a slimmer you.
And if your thumb does become as slim as the other fingers, are you disfigured or disabled?
