Do you have any personal rivalries with anybody? Maybe a friend or sibling? Do you always win/or lose? How did it start, etc. Share your story!

I have lots of sports rilvaries with friends and my brothers and recently I've been having a rivalry going on with Tome here with the game Words with Friends......I mostly WIN 😛

Here's just one of the many slaughters....

I have a lot of rivalries in the Taylor Swift fandom. people I'm always bumping heads with.

I do kind of have ea rivalry with my sister Xena

Well what kind of rivalry is it? What y'all do?

We argue. We don't get along. She is day, I'm night. We clash. We don't get along very well. I think we just... TOLERATE each other most times.😛 When we have to. My sister is younger than me and even when I was younger, she tried to show that she was smarter or that she could do math in her head or whatever. Asking me random questions.

I try to be nice to everyone, so most of my rivalries tend to become friendships. But I used to have a huge rivalry with this boy named Chase. Chase and I were good at the same things, which wouldn't be so bad, but we went to the same church, lived on the same street, and went to the same church. Up until I moved to Georgia, I COULD NOT ESCAPE HIM. It was so annoying! I would get so fed up with him and try my best to do something better, and he would charm his way into people's hearts and have them back him. Music classes and language classes especially. Sometimes I just wanted to punch that Chase!

I sometimes have some sibling rivalry flare up with Graham, my six year old brother, but he's too cute to be jealous of or annoyed at for long. But jeez, you try having a brother in first grade who reads almost as well as you do and plays the same number of musical instruments and see how YOU deal. 🙂

I don't get along very well with a friend of mine anymore but that's just because we've changed a lot since we met. My priorities have changed to include uni and hers haven't so we clash a bit now, she also likes to take the mick out of me a lot which I can't stand so we've drifted apart.

Not really. I used to have a rivalry with this guy at my school though. We were both top of the class but each tried to edge the other out of being at the very top, like trying to be the senior head prefect or whatever. It was friendly to a point, though he was a bit irritating sometimes. I did beat him in the end though as I got Head Girl and he only got Deputy Head Boy and he got rejected from all his uni choices due to the tough competition he face (he wanted to be a doctor). I felt gutted for him at the time as he did work so hard, wasn't really fair for him to not get a place at all.

I think rivalries like that are helpful when you're at school. It makes you work harder and gives you a goal of sorts. Plus we both became fairly good friends out of it so it worked out well.

I have a couple rivalries... One of my best friends and I have this unspoken thing where we both try to be smaller than the other, weight wise. LOL Both of us are bigger women, and neither wants to be known as the biggest one of our group. It's stupid and shallow, but that's women for ya. 😛

LOL it was game filled with 100 point words
Not so originally I'll say a sibling. My younger brother. We don't get along at all. He's very selfish. Like, he'll never make coffee for anyone except himself, he does or doesn't do things because he knows it's not good for me. He'll never admit that I'm actually good at something.

The other rivalry is the woman that lives next door to my studio. She always places her things at the opening of my studio. And she has the nerve to complain that my dog, who I used to take with me, crapped in her porch. She wrote me a note about it, then I reply with my own note, saying to never put her things again at my porch. And once in a while, well all the time, I see her stuff there, whenever she thinks I'm not gonna show up. But I always surprise her and catch her. So today I did bring my dog with me, don't really care if she craps in her porch again. And nobody really likes that woman anyway. She's just mean. I'm not sure what's gonna happen now, because I will have to do something because she keeps putting stuff in my porch. But if she wants a fight, I'll give her a fight.

Rivalries? Right now? Hum... Friends who I play hockey with during the winter. We show no mercy to each others. 😉 Also had somewhat of a rivalry with a friend of mine to ask a girl we both liked. Oh and I got another friend who's cheering for a team I hate(in hockey, for you silly americans) and we always brag about our team to each other, haha! It's fun stuff, though.

As for you Lu...

In highschool my best friend and I used to be very competitive when it came to grades. She was always so perfect and studied so hard to get perfect grades and I barely studied and got almost the exact same grades. If she got a 95 and I got a 98 she would punch me for the getting the better grade. Neither of us could be happy for the other for getting good grades.

LOL at this thread! And being wordman I hardly think your wwf example is fair. You're on a whole other level with that. 🙂

I have a huge rivalry with having to wake up in the morning before I'm ready! *shakes fist*

You're not shaking hard enough Abby!!
I kind of have one, but I'll say it's more from her side than mine. There's this girl that are friends with my best friends and she seems to think that we're competing about who knows them best/ are their best friends. But there's no competition; I've known my best friends since we were kids and very sure of were I have them and our relationship. It just seems silly to me, even if I can get mad or sad when she does things to "prove" her point. For god sake, we're 25 years old! And I'm so tired of this conception that women can't play nice so I've always treated her nice and tried to make her feel included. She makes it hard sometimes though, LOL

I have a rivalry with Tome in Words With Friends and because he lost, he now has to watch Eclipse 🙂

Haha didn't say I was undefeated...few peeps have beat me...doesn't mean I'm not the boss :p
I now have a new rivalry. It's with the IDIOTS in the study room next to mine. I cannot count the times I've asked them to quiet down while I try to work on the two papers I have to do before tomorrow at 3. And they won't shut it.

I don't know if you would actually call it a rivalry, but there was this one girl who I used to get into big debates with over the merits of Spuffy vs Bangel, and why Angel kept deluding himself about any future that he might have with Spike's girl, but I haven't heard from her in awhile. I sure would hate to think that I scared her off...

Well.... I kind of have a rivalry with a girl in my marching band. She is a Steelers fan and a Spuffy so we joke around a lot trying to one up each other.

I tend to usually make friendly rival ships with people who cheer for opposing sports teams. Though they are all in good sport. 😉
