Go ahead. Admit it. 🙂 Who here is becoming a fan of the character River, and the actress Summer Glau?

SUMMER GLAU (River) was born in San Antonio, Texas, were she was raised by her contractor father and schoolteacher mother. She began her career as a ballet dancer, until an injury forced her to stop dancing. Soon after, Summer began to study acting. She has worked on various television series including CSI, Cold Case, Angel and The 4400. Her work as a prima ballerina on Angel began her relationship with Joss Whedon, whom soon after cast her in Firefly.

Now working in film, Summer made her debut in the small role of Shelley in the teen comedy Sleepover, and she has just finished production on the independent film Mammoth.

Okey, I'm admitting.. I started liking her already when I saw her in Angel, there was something so special about her. River is one of my top favorite characters on Firefly, ah I want to see the development of that character so much.
 
Skipping right past the other posts (still haven't seen the film and I hate spoilers).

Anyway I love River, I love cute innocent River (Jaynestown, being all scared of Book's hair and that little pose when Book said he'd look after her) to crazy River. Im sure I'll love her as actiony River as well when I see the film.
 
OK, I don't know how cautious I'm supposed to be with the censor bars at this point, but...

She's got that kind of bug-eyed, wide-eyed Christina Ricci thing going on, which is actually a very useful trait. She can play off that and act all innocent and naive"”or deranged. But, then she can play against that too with something like world-weary cynicism.

Loved some of the WTF looks she was giving Simon, like when he asked if he was "speaking to Miranda now?". Very expressive face.

And even when some of the fighting looked fakey and it was obvious that she was in no way making physical contact with anyone"”still, it looked almost supernaturally graceful, balletic.
 
I LOVE River. Love Crazy!River. Love Innocent!River. Love Violent!River. I just adore River. I love Summer and the immensely expressive physicality she brings to the character (including her facial expressions) YAY, Summer!
 
I'm am a definate fan of River, but she isn't quite my favorite. I love Wash and Mal, but River is undoubtedly number three.She quite complex and just a little insane like me, so I gotta like her!
 
I not only liked River in the show, pretty much from the start (she and Book had the mysterious secrets thing going), I liked Summer when I met her. She's a real sweetie and easy to talk with.
 
river is an amazing character. like Freakydorky, she's not my fave character (that honor goes to jayne) but she's def number two!
can't wait until friday! i'm gonna see the movie!!
 
OMG she is amazing!!!!!!! I have never seen Firefly before but she was amazing in Serenity, I mean WOW. She was so graceful but strong, I mean WOW!! I loved her in The 4400, she was really good, same with in Angel, but in Serenity, WOW. She has made some of the most amazing fight scenes I have ever seen!
 
When and who was she in the 4400, cos i think i may have missed her and i dont want to, just a random guess was she the mental patient who built that machine to send her back to the future but instead ended up unlocking that neurologists mind?

Summer appeared in the Season Two episode "Wake Up Call". (first eppy of the season, which premiered June 5 of this year).
She played Tess Doerner, one of the 4400 who is a paranoid schizophrenic, and a resident at Abenson Psychiatric Hospital. She had some sort of mental control over the hospital's inmates and orderlies.

As for appreciating Summer Glau...hell....* I * friggin' appreciate her, and I've never even seen Firefly or Serenity. Summer/River...she's just so...yowza....

(Yeah, "yowza", THAT'S descriptive. Eloquent much? 😛 )
 
Oh yeah, i thought it was her, she was really good and i actually really liked that character, she was really cool

That's amazing. She was the Greatest Character Of All Time in the series, whereas her character was somewhat downplayed and simplified in the movie- not to say that it wasn't still brilliant.

Series River had the magnificent dialogue and the most amazing scenes in the whole show.
 
I fell in love with the character of River, I don't even know why she just amazed me.

Summer is amazing though, I'll follow her since I only finished Firefly and Serenity recently.
 
Summer Glau is amazing! Best fight scenes ever! She hardly even used a stunt double and her fight scenes contain long single shots! Makes me wish Firefly had lasted longer... God knows that show deserved it!
