I know that the Buffyverse and the Firefly-verse don't coexist, but, assuming that they did, do you think that River would have made a good Slayer? (assuming, of course, that demons and vampires migrated away from Earth along with the survivors of humanity)

Not sure whether she's stable enough.

The trip to Miranda seemed to have affected River's mental stability considerably,
and the end of "Serenity," she seemed pretty normal, even to the point of assisting Mal in the take off. Course, that's no guarantee that she couldn't relapse at any time, for any reason, and I haven't read anything that takes place after that point, but it's quite possible that more than a few Slayers sort of slip over the edge from time to time. Buffy did, at least once, when Glory took Dawn. The Slayer's existence couldn't help but put at least as much mental stress on her as what would be experienced by any soldier in a high intensity combat situation, and her battle goes on for, not weeks, or even months without respite, but years. Just imagine a teen aged girl living that sort of life with the added knowledge that it will only end in her death, most likely in a most horrible manner.

River might actually be a better Slayer, simply for the fact that she has already gone into her dark place and returned from it.

Dana did well enough... oh wait, nevermind...

I suppose River would have made a pretty good Slayer, if we assume that telling her Miranda secret made her well again. I mean she was experimented on for years, her brain changed, seems like she should have quite away to go before she gets to be on Sanity Fair. But physically she'd be good at it I think. If she's strong enough to take on a pack of reavers... though one can't discount adrenaline from that meeting...

In short, with the right motivation I think she would have made a fair demon hunter. 🙂

I would imagine she would have (providing she was sane) made a better slayer as she had actual combat training and could handle her 'scythe' on her own pretty well. Giving her preternatural speed, strength and agility would only make her a more accomplished killer.

I dunno about slayers but every time we see April in I Was Made to Love You I always, always wish Summer Glau had played the part à la River Tam.

Keep in mind that River already has to deal with her own visions/dreams/brain-magic. Another layer consisting of slayer dreams/visions/instincts might be too much to handle.
