Robin & Faith...A good couple...?

Okay, I was thinking this over, and I decided to ask you all your opinion. Okay, so, Robin and Faith? They had a lot in common, both had screwed up childhoods and stuff, but other than that, they weren't that much alike. Faith disobeyed authority figuires, Robin was one. Okay, so in the end, Faith actually seemed to like him, which you wouldn't expect, but, I REALLY don't think they made a good match. Any one agree? Disagree? Go crazy, post away.

Hm, I don't know, I don't think we've seen enough of them on screen to really judge if they match. It could work, though. What do people say, opposites attract.
I have no idea if we see more of them in season 8 (I don't like comics so I'm kinda hoping they might publish it as a book after it's finished), but if we did I would be interested in knowing how that's going.

Aren't they sorta-exes in season 8 due to the fact their duties or whatever are keeping them too far apart to continue the relationship? Something like that anyway.
As for whether they made a good couple...I don't know. I agree with SS that we didn't see enough of them on screen to decide. But there definitely seemed to be an immediate attraction and maybe they can each bring something different to the relationship.
Robin rebuilds her trust and (no pun intended) faith in everything, particularly as regards to men and in return she tunes into his wild side gets him to let his hair down. Figuratively speaking.

I agree with JS on the fact that they each brought out a different side of the other. They completed each other in a way. But I never really saw this relationship as the end station for Faith. There was passion between the two and maybe friendship, but it never seemed like love to me. I guess that might also be one of the reasons they broke up.

Same here Allycat. Actually, I can't EVER see Faith settling down, it just doesn't seem to be in her nature. She may trust him, grow to like him a lot but she's not really one to stay in one place too long and no matter what I think she would eventually get bored.
And maybe Robin ran out of surprises....

I had no problems with Faith and Wood. Eliza Dushku and D.B. Woodside had pretty good chemistry.

I think that, they did that on purpose. Normally, Faith would just "do what she wanted" then ditch 'em. She has always had problems trusting people, and even more problems accepting love. (aside from the Mayor...) So, normally, Faith wouldn't go for Robins type. However, Robin wouldn't let Faith get away. I think it was a good match on the metal aspect of things. Physical attraction was there, Robin and Faith would always have problems with eachother emotions, but good match just the same 🙂

Robin was a one night stand and faith was completely ready to leave it at that. Robin used the one tactic that he was relatively sure would work on as sexually oriented a person as Faith: question her technique. That was a challenge that Faith just couldn't let drop. At the end, when she thought that he was dead, the expression on her face as she reached over to close his eyes was more sympathy for a fallen comrade than anything else.

According to Season 8, you weren't wrong. 😉

I'm hoping to see a little more of them as a team, if not as a couple. I actually saw potential there.

I actually did like the idea of them as a couple, just because of Robins "I am SO prettier than you" line, I know that sounds totally stupid but it seemed to hint that his personality was actually more compatible with Faith, he wasnt boring or Riley kinda good and bad black and white, I think he had enough gray that he could have worked with Faith.

I know that seems kind of like a ramble but I kind of loved the Faith/Wood relationship for what it was in Season 7.

I haven't read Season 8 yet (hopefully getting it this week!), but I don't mind Faith and Robin as a couple, but I don't think it could last long. After all, it was really a one night stand like White Avenger said, it's just Robin pursued her. I think they'd be okay for a little while, but like a lot of posters have already said, it doesn't seem Faith's nature to stay with a man like that.

It just always seemed more to me that Robin was more interested in the idea of establishing a relationship with a Slayer than with just which Slayer it was. He came on to Buffy almost from the first moment he met her, and only backed off when he saw her interest in Spike. As soon as Faith showed up on the scene, she was obviously his target, and he used the same tactics on her that had almost worked on Buffy: play to her ego. The Slayer is, by nature, a person who tries to avoid attention. No doubt this was established Watcher Council policy, since they themselves seemed to be covert in whatever they did.

Interestingly, Robin used the same tactics on Faith that Dracula did on Buffy: get her attention with compliments and sweet talk, then make his move. In Faith's case, it just worked a lot better, because she had seldom, if ever, had anyone build her up the way he did. From her first moments on the show in Season 3, Faith had been seeking the recognition as the Slayer, and Buffy always got the recognition. Here was someone recognizing HER, the way only Mayor Wilkins had before, and it was just what she always wanted. (Plus, there was that "Long incarceration," thing to be considered, and the fact that potential male companionship was kind of at a premium. Robin was the only game in town.)

I wasnt too sure of it to be honest, it just seemed a little too random for me. They got together in a matter of days, which was a little silly. And it seemed to be the writers we saying "We need to show everybody that Faith is a good guy" and they shoved her with another good guy for the sake of it. Ive not read S8 yet (Im re-watching the show first, Im on S6) but im glad they split up, it just seemed strange to me.
