Rock and roll "moments"

What is your favourite musical "moment"? Which lyric, riff, guitar break, drum solo (huh! like there's a lot of them which inspire 🙂), on-stage banter etc. defines rock for you. The kind of thing that every time you hear it makes the hairs on the back of your neck tingle...makes your inner rocker shout "Yea! Rock and Roll!" like some demented American DJ...

By way of an example, here's mine...in Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run", about two thirds of the way through, after an instrumental part Bruce counts the E Street Band back in with a raw, hollered "One, two, three, four!". Now, that's rock and roll...

Or, David Bowie singing "...Ziggy played guit-aaaar" at the end of the song "Ziggy Stardust"...

...in the immortal words of Smashie and Nicey, "Let's rock!"...

Jeez! I was gonna say Bruce, BtR before I even finished reading your post! lol. That whole album has goosebump moments.

Let's see...I actually love Nirvana's cover of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World". When Kurt does the solo at the end...very shivery.

Nobody has any rock 'n roll "I could die now and I'd be happy" moments? Wha?

OK, going waaay back into history: Louie, Louie, by the garage band The Kingsmen. They sound like a drunken high school cover band, and basically, they were. There's a part where the singer squawks "OK, let's give it to em right now!!" then they break to this ragged guitar solo. Beautiful...

OK, 3 for 3 with Born to Run, but the one moment that does it for me is the harmonica/piano duet that starts "Thunder Road"...goosebumps every time. And I saw him do it in concert...***shivers***...a never-to-be-forgotten moment!

Ooh! Here's one...Roger Daltrey's eye-wateringly long scream in the album version of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again"...

...Johnny Rotten snarling at the beginning of "Anarchy in the UK" - "Right! Now! mad cackle"...you knew when you heard it that rock was going to change dramatically from then on...

I love the opening riff of The Vines' "Ride". Awesome. I luuuv the song Hypnotize by the White Stripes. Kind of a grunge/punk/death metal thing. Jack does his little Black Sabbath solo thing as Meg does her crude pounding drum stomp thing...then Jack's just playing the basic chords of the song...Meg's pounding along. Yeah. It's deep, right in your gut. I wish I knew anything technical about music, I could do it justice. But just listen!

Just heard this on the radio...the fuzzed, spikey, aggressive guitar intro to the Beatles' "Revolution" makes you really believe that the multi-millionaire pop stars are eager to get down and dirty with the proletariat...until you hear the lyrics 🙂 Although, the album version's lyrics do get a little subverted by Lennon to show which side he'd like to be on 😉

Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" is playing now...there's a song to make parents want to lock up their daughters...and sons as well🙂...another killer guitar riff IMO.

Riffage was so important in the late 60's-early 70s. Rebel Rebel has best guitar riff. I need maximum riffage!

Pink Floyd The Wall. Name one thing wrong with it!
Waters/Gilmour re-uniting for Live 8 last year.
Listening to Waters live on his Radio Kaos tour and listening to Gilmour doing Comfortably Numb in Edmonton in 94'...both events the goose bumps stopped the chill running up and down my spine.
