I agree with everything he said, except for completely rebooting the series. I'm a MAJOR Trek fan, but I believe it's time has passed. I've seen Discovery and Picard, and they just didn't entertain or inspire me.

First Contact was probably the best Trek film in the franchise.

There's enough Trek content anyway. But if Moore's interested in taking the show back to its roots (but also updating it). It might be worth a watch. I don't think Star Trek will ever pass its sell by date because of the natural of the show.

First Contact was the best of the TNG movies (not saying much) but no way was it better than 2 or 4 or 6

Well Ron worked on TNG then DS9 and Braga tried to pretend DS9 didn't exist. Look at the Enterprise ending which was meant to be a dedication to Trek (so Braga said) and there was nothing to DS9 there

That would never happen today, so he’s really the last old school television writer who did other things prior to television. What he has to say in interviews is always of interest. Star Trek has been such a mess in recent years, he would be a great contribution, but I don’t think it would happen.

It was a mess even before JJ /Bad Robot and Kurtzman all got there claws into Trek. Berman and Braga took it down so much that the studio let JJ come in.
If only Moore and Ira Bher had been given more power. The documentary What we Leave Behind and the possible DS9 S8 offered something new. We've not even had a Blu Ray version of DS9 yet and it looks gorgeous

McCoy: "I'd give real money if he'd shut up." 😂

Also, the scene where they disabled the Klingons' cloaking device was amazing. Sulu: "Target that explosion and fire!" Kirk: "Fire!" Two starships blasting the HELL out of one Bird of Prey....epic.

As for the Voyage Home, the crew landing in Golden Gate Park, and searching San Francisco for two humpback whales...one of the funniest films ever. But it also got me interested in the plight of whales. Thank you, Leonard Nimoy.

The scene of horror on Kirks face when he sees Spock dive in with the Whales 😂

A great unscripted moment. Bill looked horrified because he knew that Leonard was probably going to pull him in as well. And he did. 😂

Also, because I loved how the Enterprise and Excelsior teamed up to destroyed the Bird of Prey, I included this. Sulu and Kirk against General Chang. Wow. (Advance to 4:40 for that scene)

In effort to get more visitors to Disney parks, Disney signed him to create TV shows for Disney+ based upon their rides. It will be a shared universe of Disney rides shows.

The first such project will be “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers,” which Moore will write and executive produce. The series is loosely based on the fiction organization of the same name that is part of the Disney theme park lore. In the show, the themed lands and characters of the Disney parks and classic films all actually exist in another reality. Moore is also working with the Disney Imagineering Team on the other projects, which would amount to an interconnected universe similar to Marvel or “Star Wars” but within the world of the Disney theme parks, with Moore overseeing the franchise.

I have to say that I have enjoyed the recent Trek incarnations. The first two seasons of Discovery were this fanboy's dream, the third was good SF, Picard was also very good (though, to be fair, I would watch Patrick Stewart read out his shopping list 😉) and I thought Lower Decks was brilliant and funny. I would be interested in seeing what Ron Moore might come up with though.

I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars. The fans fall into two different camps. Some are VERY passionate about the whole thing.

Star Trek feels like a possible future for us. Star Wars is just a film series. #truth

I prefer Star Trek more than Star Wars too. I generally enjoy Discovery but the writings very inconsistent.
