In the episode 'The Yoko Factor', the two guys fought each other in an alley. Which one did you root for at the time? Or were you just enjoying seeing both of them beating each other up(hello Spike fans!)? 🙂

Personally, I wanted Riley to kick Angel's ass, haha. And he did pretty well for being human and all. Until Angel went serious mode.

riley deserved to win, he's the better man. actually angels not even a man at all..............
Riley, I love you; but Angel's my boy. I rooted for him when it aired and I still root for him now.

Plus, I just love Angel's smug little smirk and strut in Buffy's bedroom.

Oh no 😱 I love them both! Seriously, they are my two favorite characters. If I had to pick one of them I'd have to go with my boy Angel; but honestly I liked seeing the two of them on screen together.

I couldn't pick either. :)
I voted neither. They both annoyed me. Angel with his "we're not together, but you are my girl and that guy can't have you", especially after all that happend in LA, when he told her it wasn't her town, and now he comes to hers.
And Riley with his "You can't talk to your ex while I'm not in the room, overseeing both of you so you don't do anything that I wouldn't like".

I will always root for Angel. The thing is that I always liked Riley though but in that episode, he was acting pretty immature.

And Angel, with that smirk, is so acting the adult? 🙂

I have a hard time deciding since I like both, so I voted neither. I just like that whole scene, heck the whole episode. 🙂

I didn't root for either of them. I liked the scene and thought it was well-played, but I didn't root for either 'cause I liked both characters.

If it was played for anything other than comedy than I'd probably agree, but the whole thing between Angel and Riley was to show how ridiculous they both were acting. I don't think for a second either one of them was acting out of a genuine belief that Buffy was "theirs". In fact, I think the way they both submitted to Buffy's authority immediately shows that they both know and understand that Buffy is not a prize or possession to be won. I honestly think Buffy's authority and independence is a big part of why they both fell for her.

Point taken.
I would have loved to see Riley manage to hurt Angel more than he actually did, simply because I always root for the underdog, and that's exactly what he was there. In strength, speed, and, endurance,Angel obviously had him beaten, hands down, but I was hoping that Riley would have had more training in some discipline that would have allowed him to use his opponent's strength against him, like aikido, hapkido, or jujitsu. Certainly, he wouldn't have been able to beat Angel, but he SHOULD have been able to throw a few surprises his way.

When I first watched it, I was rooting for Angel because I didn't like Riley, but watching it now, I root for Buffy to kick both their sorry butts.

Although they were both being ridiculous, if I had to choose I would pick Angel because he was just trying to talk and apologize to Buffy and Riley sees him and is like "Angel's back in town, that automatically means the girlfriend who trusted me enough to confide about her past the other night has cheated on me, slept with him, turned him evil and endangered the world. And it's up to me, dun...dun,dun,dun, Riley, perfect American soldier boy to whoop his a** and save the day without giving him or Buffy a chance to explain." Sorry, I just really hate Riley.

I wanted Riley to be taken down a few notches. He's always seemed very self-righteous to me.
