Roseanne, which had previously been renewed for an 11th season, has been cancelled after it's titular star's racist tweet! Cast & stars reactions.

Rosanne has always said outrageous things. This is nothing new. Yes, what she said was a bit offensive to some, but today's social climate guaranteed she'd be punished for her words.

What she said wasn't even racist (to me). But of course they found a twisted way to spin it into racism. So long as Jimmy Kimmel (also ABC) can say whatever disgusting thing he wants about certain people, it's fine because it fits an agenda.

What bothers me is the reaction everyone is having. Her show is canceled and now networks are pulling reruns of her old show to distance themselves. Are you kidding me???? What world is this? I feel like I’m living in a reality of extremists on both sides and everyone is cuckoo bananas.

Who is it racist to? Apes, specifically PotA? The Muslim Brotherhood? Or that person? Isn't Rosanne supposed to be a comedian? Why is what she said so offensive since that's what comedians do? But when others call people vile stuff (including comparing them to animals), it's all in good fun. Because only one side is allowed to get nasty but not the other. When one side does it, people laugh about it. When the other does it, they are treated like criminals. The wonderful world we live in...

Wasn't Bush constantly compared to a monkey? Including videos/manips of being compared with them. Aren't people constantly calling Trump animal names? Is that also racism then?

Now that ABC is owned by Disney, which has made a concerted effort to get blacks to watch their programs including their very successful Black Panther, they had no choice but to pull Roseanne. There is a long history of blacks being called apes as a way of diminishing their humanity and Disney would not have pulled the plug on their show even though it had the highest ratings on TV. A lot of people are now out of work but who knows? Buffy was a mid-season replacement for "Savannah" and we are all happy that it failed or we never would have met Buffy or Angel.

That woman is supposed to be black? I only read one article about it but it had a pic of Rosanne next to one of hers and she looked as white as Rosanne. Was her picture taken under really harsh light or something? How is she considered black when she is white?

She's just very light-skinned...but she's black. She identifies as African American, so...there ya go.

Truthfully, the liberals have had it in for Roseanne ever since they discovered she's a Trump supporter. Unfortunately, she gave them an excuse to come after her. She's not very bright, and tends to do things that pisses people off. She got away with it in the past, but these days are QUITE different. Meh. Whatever. America sucks now.

Maybe I don't get it because I was raised differently. But color and what you identify as are two different things. So when someone says they are black, when obviously they are white in terms of skin color, makes no sense to me. Color is color. What you identify as, now that's very different. But that's probably why I don't get the rar rar over this. White or black, many people have been compared to animals, including presidents of the USA. So it's weird to me why it's ok to do that with certain skin colors but not with others. Either all people are equal and should be treated as such, or they are not and then it becomes racism based on skin color. And I dare anyone to deny that they have never seen a person on the street or on TV or something, regardless of their skin color (white, black, yellow, green, purple...doesn't matter), and didn't think or say 'wow, they look like 'insert animal/insect/amphibian etc. of your choice here'. So is every person a racist then?

I truly believe she was just joking though - she definitely shouldn't have done it but I don't believe there was malicious intent. It's kind of unfair how any regular member of the public can say what she did and worse and that's fine but for her they'll cancel a good show.

I am so pissed that channel 10 wont air the rest of the season of roseanne now. I witnessed at least 4 faaar more racist comments today while at a local community centre. Honestly, the racism here is seriously more disgusting than anything she wrote on twitter. I think some in hollywood/show biz need a reality check - address some real racism instead of cracking it over a bad joke (which she apologised for).

I have no idea what to say or do in the face of the comments i heard today. I just dont react, but if roseannes comments were bad enough to lose her job and have her show pulled from air, then the comments I hear in Australia daily must require torture and a slow death.

That's a shame, all around… I know a lot of people who enjoyed that show and who'll be upset to see it go over a tweet. It seems a shame that a whole show is now labeled racist because of the actions of one person (compare with Joss Whedon who can do no wrong and if he does it's all "oh the shows are a group effort, not just his work"... why isn't that a thing here? What about everyone else on the show? Why do they deserve to lose their jobs or for their show not to be aired at all anymore?) Not excusing Barr, I'm not informed enough about her general actions or opinions because I'm not on Twitter, but however you spin it this is just furhter politicizing everything and deepening the divide between people.

I like the idea I saw about them just replacing Rosanne in the show with Danny DeVito and not adressing the switch at all...😎

Anyway Roseanne apologised so it's not like she doesn't know what the problem is. If she thought it was fine then she'd show some spine and stand by it.

I imagine the reason the show has been cancelled is because it's called Roseanne, she's the star and executive producer. Carrying on without her probably isn't an option and the network don't wish to be associated with her toxic opinions. Maybe another network that doesn't care what people think of it will pick it up at a later date.

I haven't seen the show, don't really know anything about her either. Seems like she's Jewish though so I imagine people would have a hard time calling her out for anti-semitism. Pretty hard to miss the racism in that tweet though.

It's pretty hard to miss the nazism of a nazi-salute too, I'd say, even if she is Jewish. Again, I'm not saying that her tweet wasn't racist, I'm saying that pulling the show is more about appearing politically correct than being politically correct. They're picking the battles they'll get the most attention and public support from.

I just dont understand why everyone is so upset that she attacked someones LOOKS. Like that is the most racist thing anyone could do? To make a bad joke about someone elses physical features??

Here i was thinking racism meant cutting off clean water supplies to majority black towns, or condemning people of colour to generations of poverty. Whoops nope, sorry, the aussies done it again. The WORST racists make a joke about facial structure 🙄
