Roseanne Cancelled!

Having loved Sara Gilbert in the Good Wife/Good Fight and seen her in one or two other things it would be great if her character got her own reboot. The rumour I've heard is that Goodman is one cast member who has said he would be interested.

Having thought about it and considering Rosanne's history I think Disney made the right call. Doesn't matter why they made the call. Its the right call.

Think you've got yer Sara(h)s confused. Sarah Steele plays Marissa Gold on both in TGW/TGF. Sara Gilbert's never appeared on either show. ;)
Considering her history, Disney should have never hired her to begin with. This is just posturing in the name of damage control for their own mistake.
Exactly. You can't really give them "points" for doing the right then when it was only after doing the wrong thing. If those comments were not consistent with their values, why did they bring her back in the first place?

That's fair, but at least they took swift action. Not every company would. I can only guess they hired her assuming that she probably wouldn't be dumb enough to put her foot in her mouth with her show back on the air. That's the difference she was out of the spotlight before and had nothing to lose.

Hey guys, whats the 411, is this the hot topic , nothing to add except Roseanne reboot was really terrible. Who was watching red state or blue state?? and the decision was surprising considering it made so much money, not sure Roseanne Bars racist tweets would have finished her show less then two years ago. I can imagine a show ending in reverse as a reactionary racist or homophobic response for fear of losing family values sponsors in midwest or what not, not the shoe on the other foot, that is different.

I think that's debatable. Would Seinfeld have been as successful the title character wasn't around? I think so. Fraser was a spin-off of Cheers and that was very successful too.

I wasn’t too crazy about this version of Darlene though to be honest. What did you think of her? Her daughter was an unbearable brat, and she herself was so watered down and bland she was like a shadow of her original self. I feel like the old, snarky, sarcastic Darlene might have been able to lead a reboot but this one not so much. And her daughter is seriously one of the most unlikable characters I have seen. I didn’t like her as Debbie on shameless either.

I've only ever seen one episode so I can't really comment.

It's funny how they watered down the show, yet Roseanne STILL managed to get it cancelled. 😂

You've only seen one episode of Roseanne, correct? So, exactly what is debatable?

I think I can speak for al of us when I say that we'd continue watching the show is Roseanne wasn't on it. I say kill her off and keep the show! Darlene, Jackie and Dan were more interesting and funny, anyway.

I still have to appreciate (meaning I laugh a lot) how a show gets cancelled and all reruns of it on every other station/streaming service gets pulled for a freaking tweet but Smallville is still on the air and no one bats an eye. One of the main stars involved in sex slavery, branding, brainwashing, abuse etc. but that's all fine and dandy. Oh what's that? The show and actress aren't big enough to make a media fuss about? Oh well alright then.

America. LMAO.

Quick question....who is leading the charge against Samantha Bee? I've heard a little about that, but can't tell if that's a joint effort (at least simultaneous effort) by snowflakes on both the Left and Right for her language against Ivanka Trump, or if it's only one side. I'd rather not sort through dozens of news stories to try to figure out what's going on there (I mean in general, there's always going to be people who need to find outrage fuel for their blogs, which means I'm sure one can find people on either side, but I mean generally speaking), and I know plenty here care far more than me. So, just out of curiosity, is this just one side wanting her gone, or both?

Is Smallville still airing? (I honestly don't know, nor how important Mack's character is to it.) Your point does make me wonder if Smallville playing even on Netflix might be benefiting that sex slavery cult (even if only indirectly by paying Mack royalties and such which she can use to help the cult, or even providing her for legal counsel).

But if you wanna bring up how crazy this can get, I am fairly certain that there have been more than one BB thread (but couldn't find the specific threads), including in the Bronze, that said we need more of women's voices in Hollywood and other creative arts (as if there aren't already plenty, some giving us bestsellers and blockbusters like Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey, which I'm sure would face a digital lynch mob if they were males putting those books and screenplays out). Getting rid of Roseanne's voice is getting rid of one more woman's voice, and getting rid of Allison Mack would be another. 😛

Smallville is still on Hulu. So I'm sure it's elsewhere also. And lets not forget that The Cosby Show is also still running I believe. Same with The Ranch and That 70's show despite Danny Masterson (or whatever his name) being accused of multiple brutal rapes.

Disney employees have been arrested on child sex charges for years. Disney continues to work with, hire and protect such people. Yet they are pretending to be morally outraged by anything? And people are nicely offended by a tweet but not that a company continues this disgusting behavior and they...I don't know. Don't watch Disney programs anymore, any of their movies, demand that Disney shows/movies get taken off reruns/the air or get a social media storm going akin to Rosanne to shine a spotlight on their filthy practices. How much cognitive dissonance do people experience daily because they have been nicely brainwashed? Jesus.

You want Allison Mack as a voice of the female population? Where she Tweets about injustice towards women and invokes the #metoo tag but does this shit behind closed doors? Yeah, no thank you. I would prefer anyone in the entertainment business (music, film, tv etc.) to shut their trap, period. Male, female...doesn't matter. They work in one of the biggest criminal cesspools on our planet yet try to lecture the world on how to live their life.

I don't have a problem with a network still running episodes featuring the people in question. I mean in that case the people watching are watching to enjoy the content of the show and them as performers which is different. Also I don't think you can just pretend that these people never existed in the first place. That would be a bit like erasing Hitler from TV or Film.

Well it is their freedom of speech to give their views. And I don't think you can tar everyone with the same brush. There is always going to be good and bad in any industry let alone such a big one.

You didn't address one thing in my post which pretty much validates what I said about cognitive dissonance. You side stepped the issue with 'well every industry is bad or good in their own right' and divert it to freedom of speech which was not even in my post. That's not how it works. That's you defending the practices of Disney. That's you defending that these other shows are still on the air despite the abhorrent crimes committed. That's you not doing a damn thing to stop it.

But then you get angry with the rest over a freaking tweet and agree that taking a show off the air (and reruns) for a tweet is fine but you don't get outraged over all the shows/movies that are still being shown despite the main actors/directors/producers being pedophiles, rapists, abusers etc. Because you can separate art from artist. But in the case of Rosanne you can't? Do people honestly don't get it how much they don't make sense?

they do and they don't care. and canceling the reruns and etc won't change a thing. others will come after them and so on.
