Does anyone know this song its used a lot on programs and films, e.g. the oc (last ep of s1 and the ep where the house burns down), shrek, scrubs (where they all lose a patient). i think its the best song ever- it makes me cry nearly every time i hear it because its just so beautiful.

I thought it was a John Cale song originally (or possibly even Leonard Cohen) but I could very easily be wrong - I'll have to look it up. It's a wonderful song anyway.

This is one of my favourite songs, so beautiful, yet so cynical...it just really speaks to me.
I prefer the Jeff Buckly to the Rufus Wainright...trying to get hold of the Leonard Cohen one, so no comment on that yet.
There's two different sets of lyrics too though. should I post the two sets or would that be too long?
