Anyone else watching?

I'm a big big big big big New Zealand All Blacks supporter. Please, go ahead with all the "All Blacks will Choke in the Semi's" joke, I dont care, this is our year!
 
I watched the opening match yesterday France/Argentina. Not a great start for the french team but I'm sure they still can win this year.
 
i'm just starting to understand this game. my best friend is a HUGE rugby fan, and she dragged me to my first match a few weeks ago, Ireland Vs. Italy. and Ireland won, ladida!

i, of course, will be supporting Ireland, but, according to some of the fans met a few weeks ago, not many think we stand a chance, but i'll be cheering anyway, lol.
 
lol! I support The All Blacks, and anyone whos playing against the wallabies! Poor Italy, they lost really bad last night. And France didnt play so well either.

haha you sound like me - i support the University of Michigan and anyone playing Ohio State. which is a joke only U of M fans get.... :S
France sucked against Argentina. They looked like some kids who didn't know how to play, but I hope they will do better in the next matches!

Personnaly, I do not have any favourite team (although I'm French...).

I expected a lot more from a team like France. They're quite good. But Im guessing it being the first game, them being the host nation, was a bit nerve wracking.
I hope you were cheering for Japan mogwaid. They needed it lol.

91 - 3 scoreline, and the Aussies barely broke a sweat 😀
 
Japan didnt stand a chance, I knew that, but the poor boys, you gotta give them credit for getting any points on the board at all!
 
After Ireland's performance today, I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I think we might just have exhausted our quotient of Good-At-Sports karma at Ireland Vs. England in Croke Park. Man, what a game. Our victory party was broken up by the Guards in the end. It was Bon Jovi's Livin' On a Prayer that did it...

I'm not sure who I'd put my money on, to be honest, a lot of the ol' reliable teams have been pretty badly underperforming.

Didnt they win against Namibia, 32 - 17? I didnt watch the game tho, so im not sure how it was.

They did lose Mark Gerrard in that game tho. Pretty sad to lose someone in the first match.

No, it's not that. At least, I don't think so.
During the last Football world cup, the same happened because there has been a huge mediatisation of the football players. They were in each magazine, newspaper, on TV, on ads... And this is just the same with the Rubgy players. I just hope that they will woke up from this all media coverage and start to play rugby!

Yup, they won, but they made heavy work of it. Namibia is like... a part time rugby team, Ireland shouldn't have found it such a hard match. It wasn't one of their finer moments.

Ireland have a pretty easy game coming up, I think they can do better. Theres a big debate here [In Australia] about the Northern Hemisphere vs the Southern, and how its always one sided. More because the IRB doesnt want the Northern teams getting much better, something to do with money/power. What do you guys reckon?
 
Thought I might add in my predictions...

Quarter Finals:

Aust Vs England = Aust
NZ Vs Argen = NZ
SA Vs Wales = SA
Fra Vs Scot = France [But could easily be Scotland]

Semis

Aust Vs NZ = NZ [Coz im backing them, but seriously could go either way]
SA Vs Fran = SA

Finals

New Zealand Vs South Africa = New Zealand woo 🙂

What's up with Australia playing Wales in Wales?!! Bloody sell outs.
 
Well in order for France to secure the world cup, they had to lend out some games to Wales. The last world cup, Australia were meant to lend out some games to NZ but then for some reason or other, it fell thru so all the games were held here. Next World cup is being held in New Zealand tho.

Btw I like your idea kanga, lets do that.
 
Should we do a poll per game? or just ask people who they think will win the Cup, or make the finals?
 
If we did a poll per game there'd be heaps of polls floating around. So maybe we should do one for who we think will make it into the semis, and who we think will win the world cup.
 
Yeah that'd work. You seem very informed about all the teams 🙂 Did you want to make the polls? Maybe make the last one when we know who's in the final.. or just do it now? 1 point for each team you guess right... maybe we could make a little banner for the person(s) with the most points.
