S3 and post s3 wesley= annoying

did anyone find wesley really annoying in series 3 and actually series 2, he should have been made leader the power went to his head and to be honest he wasn't a very good leader, why did cordy and gunn even need leader- they could have had a communist business, makes more sense to me- or thy should have made cordy leader!!! lol

I don't agree, I think Wes is cool!
I can't remember it too well but I would imagine Gunn and Cordy would of been happy with Wes being leader. Cordy doesn't seem like she would want to try and take control and Gunn, well I dunno. At least I dont think Cordy would agree.
 
Yeah, in fact it seemed more like none of them really wanted to be leader, it was more a case of someone's gotta do it.

Doesn't Wesley say something on Pylea like "why does everyone want to make me the leader all the time". He doesn't seem to like it.

Once they start trusting Angel again, he appears to take over as leader without so much as a squabble. If Wesley has some kind of power-hungry thing going on I don't see it.
 
He did want to be leader, or he was happy to be cos he was showing of too his dad- i dont mean he went looking for power, i mean when he had it he was annoying with it, i've gotta work on my writing skills lol
 
What, you mean he saught out leadership of the group to impress his dad?

Wasn't that more like once he was made leader he thought it was something that might make him look better in his dad's eyes, so he told him. I didn't see him campaigning for the leadership though, or doing anything to try to keep it once Angel was again acceptable to the group.

He does have father issues though.
 
Of the three remaining members of Angel Investigations Wesley was the most natural frontman. His whole character lent itself to him being considered the leader without Angel present so i don't think it was a case of anyone choosing him to lead, least of all himself. It just happened that way.

Then once Angel returned it was just more official. Angel clearly recognised Wesley as the boss of the outfit now and so Wes simply accepted the role he had been given.

The phonecall with his father was perfectly understandable. After he was fired from the Watchers Council he clearly felt that he had failed his father, who, as we later saw in Lineage, was not exactly the easiest man to impress. The fact that he was now in charge of Angel Investigations would have been a great boost to his confidence and a way to make some ground up with his father again.

But i never saw Wesley as annoying, he led that team extremely well during his brief period of leadership as far as i was concerned.
 
Frankly, both Gunn and Cordelia would have made better leaders. Both possessed the natural born abilities to be leaders. And Gunn had actual experience. Wesley may have been more knowledgeable about supernatural matters, but in the end, he didn't make a very good leader. I think that Cordelia and Gunn made a mistake in allowing him to assume authority over him.

And yet, it didn't take Angel very long to assume control again.
 
I never watched season 2 and 3 until yesterday, but I fell in love with Wesley during season 2, and I liked him A Lot in season 3 as well. He was a great leader, I loved it when he was the leader. And I don't think he did it to show off to his dad or that the power went to his head. I think he managed very well. Sure he told his dad about it, who wouldn't (especially someone who has been told they're useless their whole life). And yes he was a bit hurt when Angel came back and said he was gonna work for them, but sort of ended up in charge anyway.. I'd be hurt to if I were him. But he was never annoying and I still like that character very much (haven't seen the end of season 4 yet though).
 
I don't think that Wesley was a very good leader. I suspect that both Cordelia and Gunn would have been better. But when Wesley had broken away from the Gang to form his own business, he managed to develop into a competent leader. It's too bad he felt that he had to return to Angel Investigation. I suspect that this decision eventually led to his character regression of Season 5.
 
I haven't seen season 5 yet but the time Wesley spent apart from the gang.. god, that's the most depressing thing on the show to me. I just wantet them all to be friends.. On Buffy I liked the depressing seasons, but on Angel I just want everything to be good. Kinda like it is in season 2, when Cordelia, Welsey and Gunn are all friends. Well well, anyway.. I've recently become a Wesley fan so..
 
he was the right choice for a leader but he also wasnt to good...honestly i like wesley when he is with lilah the best
 
Frankly, Wesley didn't have much of a choice BUT to lead. All the rest of them did their best to skirt that responsibility.
 
I think I hated Wesley most when he went over to a sort of...dark place, and had that foul relationship with Lilah. I used to really like him up until then.
 
I never found him annoying, but after Lilah in season 4 he started to frighten me. I really wouldn't like to meet him in a dark alley. There was so much darkness to him and when he got back on the good side he kinda hid his darkness and you could feel it under the surface which is even more scary than when someone is straight out evil.
 
I don't think that he had the ability to be a great leader in the earlier seasons. He wasn't extremely confident with his abilities until the end of season two and quite possible the beginning of season three.

I did not find him to be annoying. I agree that Wesley took on the leadership position because he had to, nobody was stepping up to the plate because they didn't want that type of responsibility.

I admire Wesley's leadership in season five. He was strong, and knew what he could do. He was comfortable in his own skin.
 
Wesley was very annoying at the beginning of the series. He never made it onto my list of characters that I liked in the show. I will admit that he was better in the later parts of Angel, but I dislike him in Buffy and early Angel.

I'm not sure about his leadership skills. I think he did okay when Angel was away and being a jerk in season two.
 
I don't think he was annoying at all in season 3. He was the leader and as the leader you have to make the toughest decisions that others cannot make. The only time Wes ever annoyed me was on Buffy, and that is what he was supposed to be on Buffy.

I dont think he wanted to be leader even when he was telling his dad. I think he just wanted his dad to be proud and actually aprove of something he did.
