S8 and after the shows guide?

I recently finished watching the entire buffy/angel sets again after getting my little brother hooked on them, and heard about the season 8 comics and such; I just have a couple of small questions; what do I want to get? I am not really interested in heavy reading books, since I don't normally read at all anyway, and I already picked up Season 8 volume 1 which i'm halfway through right now and really enjoying it, but i'm just not sure if i'm missing anything, are there stand alone comics I should pick up to go along with season 8? what about After The Fall? and in what order do I read them in? it's all really confusing :|

Since I assume you're going to read the entire season in trades, you don't have to buy anything to go along with them since the important standalones (or even all of them, I'm not too sure right now) are already in there. So that is really easy.

After The Fall is also good storywise, not the art though. It's set six months after the finale of Angel so it takes place before Season 8, but you don't have to read it before. You can read it after S8, or sometime in between or not at all, it doesn't get referenced in S8. With Angel: After the Fall, there's also a Spike: After the Fall, which takes place before the Angel: ATF story, so you could read it before, but I would advise against that, since it spoils some things in the early issues of ATF. The earliest I'd read it is after you're finished with the first ATF trade or so.

I can't help you with the Angel on-going series though, since I've dropped that.

Oh, sorry. Trades, or Trade Paperback books, are collected volumes of, usually, 4-6 comic book issues. So the Buffy Season 8 Volume 1 you've been reading was the first of the trades 😉

Yes, all the standalone issues, as well as some web-only features I think. ATF is supposed to be coming out in one single volume in March. There has not been any announcements about a single (or more likely 2 or 3, since 40 issues is a lot to fit in one) volume for Buffy s8. By the way, I've found a lot of the Buffy s9 TPBs at my local library. I only started buying back in August when I couldn't find the newer issues at the library.

Are you sure? The TPB's I've bought don't have the web-issues in them...but then again, I have no idea when the web-issues are supposed to appear in the time-line of S8, so maybe I just haven't gotten that far yet, lol.
 
think i'll wait for that single ATF volume to come out and get that then. knowing my luck once I have the whole S8 they'll come out with a complete volume for it D:

"Harmony Bites" and "Vampy Cat Play Friend" (in vol 5, Predators & Prey) were originally published on MySpace Dark Horse Presents! And "Always Darkest" and "Harmony Comes To The Nation" were more MySpace comics published in vol 6, Retreat. I don't think they were part of any original single issue, but someone please tell me if I'm wrong!

They are in Volume 5. I just got my copy a couple days ago and "Harmony Bites" and "Vampy Cat Play Friend" were in there. :)
hey; I just finished volume 2 and rather than make a new topic I thought i'd ask here.

i'm kind of confused about the ending.. what was all that about with buffy and willow at the end? it seems like there's a page missing or something because it didn't really make a whole lot of sense to me, and I read it 3 times to try and "get it" o_o can someone explain what went on?
 
At the end of "Anywhere But Here", there is a rift between Buffy and Willow. Willow has revealed her true feelings concerning the events of Season 6, and also that she's keeping Kennedy away to protect her. Buffy feels justified in robbing banks and Willow is convinced that robbery is "the first domino" leading to the Slayer-human war. Then there's the small matter of an impending betrayal that will be perpetuated by "the closest, the most unexpected". Buffy hopes the betrayer's not Willow but considering what she's just learned she's not too sure anymore.

thanks.. but there was no evidence or anything pointing that willow would betray her at all? but then they suddenly go off in different directions and such. I don't really get why they went all cold like that :| and what was with that demon and the TV with faces stuck to it's tail?

Well, I'm not sure that Buffy actually thought that Will would be the betrayer. It's just that the situation got a lot more uncomfortable when Willow revealed that she was keeping her girlfriend away from Buffy in order to protect her. Tara died because Willow was Buffy's friend. Or, at least, that's the way Will sees it. She feels that she "put her love in a bullet's path" since if she hadn't resurrected Buffy, all the stuff with Warren leading to Tara's death would never have happened.

Buffy and Willow are all cold towards one another at the end of the issue because that's one heavy confession with lots of ugly baggage attached to it concerning the danger of being friends with Buffy and who was to blame for Tara's demise.

the ending makes more sense now, but maybe they could have written it out clearer in the last few pages, or maybe i'm just not used to the flow of reading a comic.
