I'd say Joyce simply because of The Body, but Tara wins it for me, simply because it sticks with Willow all through S7, and plus... She was my favorite character... 🙁

i cried more at joyce's death but that was because there was a whole episode dedicated to it and it was also the reactions of people around her.
I cried on Buffy's death and still do now when i watch it but i think it was just because of the way that joss did the whole scene having buffy whisper to dawn and then having her words as a voiceover while she jumped.
Tara's death made me feel saddest, i didnt cry very much when tara died but i felt sadder than i did when other characters died.

It depends. If you mean which death made me cry the most, I'd have to say Joyce or Fred. I bawled by way through The Body and A Hole In the World. If you mean which death had the most emotional impact on me overall, I'd have to say Tara. I didn't cry much after Seeing Red because it was so sudden, but after she died, I felt very hollow for a long time. She had such a strong presence and the show just didn't seem the same in season 7.

i felt exactly the same way about Tara
Oh, God, they all made me cry. I don't think I can even pick a top one. Buffy's made me bawl like a baby, as did Joyce's, and the complete destruction of Fred's soul broke my heart. Tara's death killed me as well, because of how awful it was that she and Willow had just gotten together. And Anya! Oh, God, Anya.

....Why did they kill so many of them? Whyyyyyyyyy?

Okay. I'm done.

You know why!
I would say that I cried the most when Buffy died in 'The Gift'. I cried for a couple of hours after it was over the first time I saw it. I also cried alot when Joyce died because I love Joyce & I didn't want to see her go. I always enjoyed her scenes alot. But definetly Buffy's death in 'The Gift' takes the cake for me.

Gosh, this is a hard one. What is it with you and the hard questions, The Ferg?! lol

Are we talking just Buffy, or Angel too? I'll be honest with you - I'm a crier. I cry everytime I watch The Gift. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen it...Spike crying at the end just kills me, and the look on Giles' face...

Joyce's death I just find very disturbing personally. Due to this, I actually don't often rewatch The Body. It just scares me. If anything like that happened to my mother, if I found her like that... *shudders I don't know what I would do. Joyce reminds me very much of my own mother.

Tara's death was too me so shocking, I didn't have time to cry. It all happened so fast...

Angels death was too melodramatic for me...

Freds death was horrible. I cried my eyes out for Wesley.

So, I guess the Saddest I've have to vote for Cordelias. In Your Welcome, when Angel gets that call...It's. Just. So. Sad....

I would say Joyce. The Body had me in tears from beginning to end. I really loved Joyces character, and I loved how her death was "real" and not supernatural.

Tara's death, however, had me in tears also. She and Willow were perfect together, and I hated that she had to die right after they made up 🙁

Buffy's death made me cry alot at the end of S5, but when Joyce died, it also made me cry becuase she reminds me alot of my mom.
So both Buffy's deaths and Joyce's death.
When Tara died i was sad, but abit shocked to see that Buffy got shot too.

I'm not really sure anymore, but I suppose that Tara's definetly got me more by surprise. With Joyce, there had been something wrong with her the entire season. Even though things looked good for her at some stage, it didn't come completely out of the blue. Henceforth, I consider Tara's death to be the most saddest, emotional and shocking death of all the numerous death's in the show.

From BTVS i'd have to say that Anya's death was one of the saddest, because it was soo shocking. The fast impact of how it happened and how she was never found :-(
Angels death had me in tears, so did Buffy's in season 5, and Spike *cries*.

Anya and Spike had me bawling at the end of season 7, two of the best characters gone :-(

agreed. Btw, nice banner!
Default answer to this is <your favorite character> and i have to admit i am going with default one. Excluding that i think one of four -- Joyce, Tara, Darla or Lindsey. Weirdly enough i think i would choose Darla or Lindsey of that.

I found Joyce's death more sad as she was an integral part of the gang's lives. She was a mother to all of them. I cried more over her death than Tara's I'm afraid.

I'm not really a cryer, so I didn't really cry with any of the deaths. Spike just collapsing with grief (well, and he also had been in a hell of a fight shortly before, so it might have also something to do with exhaustion, Idunno) at seeing Buffy's body in the Gift gets me close to crying, tho. As does Anels reaction when he gets the phonecall in you're welcome. The Body was a good episode, but I didn't like Joyce enough to feel bad. Tara's death didn't really make me sad, but I think because of the impact it had on Willow (she almost literally lost her mind with sorrow), I think her death was, all in all, the saddest.

Well they all left me sad and with that numb feeling that I don't seem to get with deaths on any other shows unbelievably. I mean I thought about Fred's death for weeks after the episode aired it disturbed and upset me that much, I was in shock at Tara's and oh my god Jenny's! That was like first major death (since Buffy was brought back to life in Prophecy Girl) so I was all 'No one's safe. Oh my god, he actually did kill her, they didn't save her!' and Giles' reaction had me crying my eyes out (Apparently not many of the crew could bear to watch that scene where he breaks down outside the factory- they all found it too uncomfortable!).

But perhaps not surprisingly the saddest death for me was Joyce's. On a basic level "hey they just offed my favorite character!" but it was the whole episode dedicated to it showing each reaction to death (and think that was another point as well. It wasn't someone dying we were dealing with like when characters have been killed/risked lives etc, but it was actual Death we were dealing with here) and many episodes after that (on into season 6 and 7) where they constantly jabbed the knife in to show how it had effected and left a hole in each of the character's lives. Plus the way it literally hit home was a little too much for me. I don't know what I'd do if my Mom suddenly died like that. So that death hit me on so many levels that it's impossible for me to not say it was the saddest.

There is nothing bad for favorite character death to be saddest, they are our favorites after all.
Wow, that's hard...

I always have to cry when Joyce dies. The first time when I watched it, I was so shocked. I know something was wrong with her but she was okay after the operation so I just thought everything was going to be okay. And then when Buffy found her, there was this scene where it seemed like she'd be okay again. And I really believed it. But then it wasn't real and all the pain was back again. Then how you could see how all of them grieved... Especially Anya brought me to tears. I'd say this is the saddest episode in Buffy.

Another episode where I always have to cry is the Gift. Even now, that I know she's going to be okay, it's still so sad. Dawn, Giles and oh God Spike! They're all crying and it really brings me to tears.

Jenny's Death was sad, too because it was the first real death. Until then I didn't think that they'd just kill an important character. But they did and I felt so sorry for Giles! When he saw her lying in the bed like that... Terrible...

Tara's death of course... I never cried. Not even the first time. Not because I didn't like Tara but because I just couldn't believe it! I didn't want to believe it... It took me a while to get over that shock and then I was just grieving for her. I'm still not quite over it. She was Willow's one true love and there's no one who could replace her. Especially not Kennedy.

Then there's Anya's and Spike's death. I already knew that Spike wouldn't really die because my friend told me. But I still cried... lol (I'm quite the cryer, I know). When she says "I love you" and she holds his hand and they're on fire. It's just so beautiful and sad at the same time.
Anya's death just shocked me. I didn't even get it until Xander asked Andrew. Anya was one of my favorite characters so I was sad and I was already crying so I just cried more.

The saddest death for me is Joyce death because it's just so real. It's not like all the other deaths. The others died in fights or were killed but Joyce death could happen in real life to. What if I get home one day and find my mother dead?

The most shocking would have to be Anya and Lindsey. Every time I see Anya... gulp... get cut in half... I just kinda go into shock-mode. My mouth just flys open and I stare for a while.

I forgot about Angel, so yeah, Fred's death was intense. I feel so bad for Wes... Poor guy, they were totally soul-mates.

Jenny Calendar's death is the most sad as far as i'm concerned, not so much her actual death, having your neck snapped seems like a pretty quick way to go, but the way Giles finds her brings me to tears every time I see it.

I really hate angelus!

Well, Jenny's death wasn't as difficult for me as I never felt too attached to her. Yet it was Willow's reaction that got me....

Yes, that scene in Lie to Me, right? I love that scene with Buffy and Giles...when she says "Don't leave me I need you" and slaps him. Beautiful scene...

Fred's death was very sad for me. Still is when I watch it. The events that lead to her death were just so screwed up. That stupid Knox guy set her up...adn then we find out Gunn of all people was involved...and poor Wes. *sigh

Oh yes, Lindsey. The guy was on a path to good. I couldn't believe Angel asked Lorne to kill Lindsey. One of the big issues I have with the end of the show...

Tara's.

I cry during The Body, but that's just because the episode is so well done. SO well done, in fact, that someone like me (who hates Joyce) can cry during the episode. But yeah, Tara wins it for me. Horrible, unexpected, cruel death.

Fred's death was so sad, its the only Buffy/Angel character that has actually made me nearly cry when they've died. When they showed that clip of her leaving all full of hope and dreams it just got to me. We have/will do that thing of leaving our parents and going out with hopes and dreams into the world, not expecting to get killed! and the song...bah it just got me! Plus i really did expect her to be saved right at the end and it be all happy and normal! and Wesley's face...sob!
