Saddest Death?

For me the saddest death isn't such an obvious one, its Jenny Calender. I loved her character and Giles never moves on and finds a proper love after. The fact that its Angel that kills her makes it even sadder, as you know they will not forgive him easily. It was so cruel the way he made it seem like Jenny was waiting upstairs for him. Giles reaction is a piece of fine acting.
When Buffy sends Angel to hell I always cry even though he comes back. Doyles death on Angel is also very sad.
Although I love Anya (shes one of my faves) they rushed her death and I couldn't feel it properly, also it was the last episode. Both Buffy and Spike come back so I don't get emotional at all lol.
Joyces death was very sad because I didn't expect it. I would have thought she would have died when she was ill not once she had gotten the all clear.
I got really sad when I thought Giles was dead in season 7 at the end of Bring on the night I think it was. The Bringer had that axe ready to chop off his head.lol
Wesley is my favourite character so i thought that was sad but i don't think it was done as emotively as Jenny, Joyces and Doyles.
They are all sad in there own way it depends on my mood.

I think Doyles was definetly the saddest, and off Buffy it would be Joyce.

They should have kept him until the end of season 1 at least.
Buffys death in the gift has made me cry before but only when i see the gravestone. Usually though I don't cry at that death.: erm :
 
Saddest would be either Angel, Fred, Wesley, or Anya.

Joyce's was disturbing. It just... was upsetting and stuff. Tara's was sudden and it left me with a "what in the bloody h*** just happened?". Jenny was never a favourite character of mine, but it was sad. Lindsey was sad, too. Also Buffy.

Angel's was just so heart-wrenchingly awful. Fred's was the same way. Wesley was just... not fair and evil and it was so sad, with Illyria looking like Fred and everything. Although her reaction by slugging the guy was very powerful (literally and figuratively 😛). And Anya was just cruel.
 
Tara's death was just awful.....

When she said, "you're shirt..."

and Willow trying to command Osiris "I command you. BRING HER BACK!" ahh, killed me
 
I just watched the body, and yes 100% sad that Joyce dies and is in my opion
one of the sadest deaths but what i find so sad about the EP is that Anya can't understand
why Joyce is dead and she can't finger out why, to me it is just so sad that she has been around
for 1000's of years and kills scores of men but now she has to deal with it in a human way and
it is close and personal to her she can't figer how Joyce died or why she can't not be dead. xxx

Also Joyce's death was out of the blue and abit of a shock becuase as far as we new she was
getting better, Jennys death as soon as you saw Angelus in her class room we new she was
going to die. If you get me.

I think all the deaths were horrible and very sad, so i can't exactly say which one was the saddest one. I cried when Jenny, Joyce, Tara, Buffy and Spike died. But I think Joyce and Tara's deaths were the most horrible because they didn't die because of magic and are more realistic...
 
Jenny's really struck me, the cruelty, the careless way Angel snapped her neck, then the meticulously cruel set up for Giles to find her, all of it horrible and shocking, really made chills go through me. And how lost but brave Giles was afterward...

Then the way Joyce's was handled was brilliant, because usually on the show death is a daily thing, ha, dusted six vamps and four demons, great for us...and even the endless stream of human victims', no one really bats an eyelash. But with Joyce's death we are reminded how real, permanent and personal death is. How it stops life, not just for the dead person, but for all those around them, who's lives will truly never be the same again. It brings it all home, and I think we are more sensitive to death afterwards.

Honestly, even though Willow went all ragey and dark after Tara's death, it was mostly brushed over. No one else really reacted to her loss as a person, only in what it did to Tara (except for Dawn's initial reaction). It was glossed over. We lost this precious person, but it was treated as merely a plot vehicle, I felt sort of cheated by the way they handled Tara's death really. It was as if the only person she mattered to as a person was Willow, and instead of being crushed, lost, etc, Willow just got angry. I don't know. That whole thing didn't work for me on a personal level, for all that it might have made good tv, I didn't buy it.

Anya's reaction to the slaughter of the frat boys was a good handling of death on the show. But I can't help wondering once the boys were restored, what they remembered of the killing and of the being dead, and if/how it affected them.
 
I don't cry too much, but I cried with Jenny's death. Probably 'cause Giles, he lost his only real love... And yeah, she wasn't thé most important character, but I miss her.
 
I'd have to say Joyce. The Body was such a powerful episode but she also left such a big hole in the gang's life, she was a mum to them all.

But if we're including Angel, then I'd say Wesley's death is one of the saddest too.
 
Probably Jenny Calender.

She was an awesome character, especially for a teacher. She was hot. She was cool. She was funny. She was intelligent. When Giles found her body it was completely heartbreaking...especially as just moments before when he went inside he looked so happy.

Jenny is followed by Anya for me.

Anya followed by Joyce...Joyce used to be my saddest but I'm over it now.
 
Lets see, Tara's death affected me the most. I didn't have too much time to cry because it was so sudden and a lot of events fallowed but it definetly made me the saddest and it really made a hole in the Buffyverse and it changed the show. I think I might have actually cried after the episode had ended which is a first cause I usually cry during the episide but never after.

After that i'd have to say Jenny. I just loved her and Giles reaction made me soooooo sad. It killed me. Plus she was my second or third favorite character.

On Angel, the saddest were definetly Doyle and Wesley. And yes I did cry

I have to admit every main character's death brought a tear to my eye. I'd probably say Joyce's affected me the most though, "The body" was such a strong ep. Oh and when i say brought a tear to my eye, i meant because i got something in my eye, not because i cried. Cause you know, i'm a manly man 😛
 
Well saddest in that it made me cry, Joyce and Buffy... but those were sad more so because I felt for the other characters' pain so deeply. The deaths that made me personally the most sad were Cordy and Lindsey. Cordy cause I love her character and to this day I still resent the way she was ripped from us... I had almost a year to mourn her death before it even officially happened, which is a good thing I guess, it means I mourned long enough to make up for how not at all her own friends from Angel mourned her. And Lindsey because I still don't understand the reasoning for Angel to order Lorne to do it... it just seems pointless and cruel and lazy to me. I really believe Lindsey was on his way towards redemption, given time he would have been good, and he was fully planning on helping with the fight... if Angel never had any intention of letting him he never should have called on him, I mean why even bother, did he not already have plenty of other things to worry about? Pointless and cruel.
 
I watched The Body recently and I was in literal hysterics, I mean, my mum refused to let me watch it for like, 5 years. An i gotta say, i love it, But whenever i watch it...its the only episode that can get me bawling so completely. Thank god I was alone in the house.

Definitely Joyce. Mostly cause "The Body" is amazing and the fantastic work Joss, SMG, and the rest of the actors do makes people cry. Every. Single. Time. Seriously, this episode is beautiful, making Joyce's death more important and poignant.
