Safe Swimming

How safe was it for the actors in Go fish to wear those elaborate costumes and swim in the ocean at the end of the episode?

Safe enough, I'd say. I'm pretty sure those weren't the actors, those were stuntmen who know how to swim wearing weird costumes and stuff. And they probably had a boat with paramedics nearby, in case anything happened. I don't think the network would have let them film it, if it had been too dangerous.

Ya, I doubt it was too dangerous. At least not any more dangerous than what stuntmen do on an every day basis. Personally I'd rather swim in the ocean than jump off a ten story building 😛

I'mnot sure,but I think that the suits/makeup were inspired by the Gillman from the old horror movie, "Creature From The Black Lagoon" from back in the 50's, in which there were extensive underwater scenes. If it was safe way back then, I'm sure the costumes used on "Buffy" were just as safe, if not safer. It looked to me as though the whole thing was just modified wet suits with a few rubber pieces attached.

The show was in no danger whatsoever, I mean they were only extra's and extra's were a dime a dozen back then. Also I dare say the wet suits were marked 'return to sender' you know, just in case they swam too far out or the harpoon ships missed them.

That still from the film, 'Creature From The Black Lagoon' reminded me of one of the bloopers from the film 'Mummy'. In which the director shouts directions to a mummy, and the actor points to his ear inferring he couldn't hear.
