Saint Cordy

Okay first let me start out by saying what the hell is Saint cordy I mean because you all can't be talking about her in season 3. And here's why in all the buffy-verse at least to my knowledge has a baby been introduced into a situation as Connor was. This is the only and probably last time Angel will have a child he couldn't do it alone so who else was going to take on the maternal role I mean who better than Cordy it gave her more growth and added dimension to her character. And after Connor was taken who better or should I say who else was going to console Angel over the loss of his son. She had to change I mean someone lose their child it isn't exactly the time to start acting selfish or mean. Besides Cordy keep her core which is one of the reasons I love her character though she was becoming more and more kind hearted she still retained her Biccaness that made everyone love her. So somebody please define for me Saint Cordy.

Ditto on what Social Suicide said. You seem to be saying that all the things that happened on Angel were needed for Cordy to grow, but you also seem to be implying that we as a whole don't agree with this....or something. And what exactly do you want by asking us to define 'Saint Cordy'....?

Okay this is what I meant to say and sorry about the misintrepretation. I've heard a lot of people saying they disliked Saint Cordy so I was asking what exactly was Saint Cordy because I hoped they wasn't talking about how she was in season three. Then I went on to ask them to define what they called Saint Cordy if that makes any sense.

Ok if I understand you, I agree. I found Cordy's progression more or less natural. The themes cited in her character in Season three referred back to the entire Cordy arc and this is why I've always felt 'Saint Cordy' to be a horribly oversimplified 'analysis. Even the whole Cangel thing was believable because Cordelia has been out of touch with her own feelings before, like with Doyle.

Cordy did change and a lot of that change was Angel's influence, but she often confronted Angel and told him how it was. This said, Cordy had developed a sense of tact as well. Notice how she tried talking to Angel about the Buffy issue but noticed that she was pushing a little too much, so she changed the subject.

Overall, I agree, what exactly consitutes 'Saint Cordy'.

Hm. My first reaction was "Whose Saint Cordy?"

But I guess Saint Cordy is the heart of AI as Gunn and Fred have pointed out. She's the "Xander" (more or less) of the Angel team. She uses her heart as her guide. I love her. I love that Lilah Jr. grew into such a loving, caring, perceptive, heroic character.

I don't think Cordy changed that much she was always nice but the who Bitca thing was a front. She did atone for all the nasty words and the Queen C role she took on. But in LA everyone starts at the bottom she was only the bitch of the small town so reality took a bite out of her. She found who she was when she joined A.I. It was nice to see her become Saint Cordy compared to Queen C.

Speaking of Saint Cordy.

I really don't understand her in the season 3 finale. She seems soooo out of Cordy-ness.

She's more in character when she has no memory of who she was.
It's like the writers were mocking themselves "Lets have Cordy forget who she is." (hint hint)

Blegh. I really don't see Cordy as choosing to ascend....and getting all stoned "Oooh yeah...everything is gonna be all right.....yeah"
It just seemed weird. No likey.
There was really no progression to that point either. It was just like "OH Cordy's the heart of the crew, no she's half demon, OOOOH GODDESS!"

Not a fan.
Willow's transformation over on Buffy or Wesley's dark transformation seemed more...epic than Cordy's convenient Saint-ness.

In season 3 there is quite a large leap in Cordelia's character. She is far more caring, considerate and selfless. Of course, her being my favorite character, i loved seeing this. I never felt it was forced though. I think it is important to note, that at this point Cordelia would have been aware of the fact that she was dying. The scans of her brain, clearly showed the amount of damage the visions had on her. And she was on prescribed medication, to try and tackle the problem, for over a year. She hid this from everyone. Her change in character, was someone trying to do what was right, with the time she had left. It helped her become more aware of other people's problems. When she chose to take on a demon side of herself. That did not mean an automatic return to form, she let her self continue on a more caring, considerate, selfless path. Leading her to make a choice to help more people, by becoming a higher being. Sadly this was not to be. I love the Cordelia Character, be it Queen C or Saint Cordelia, i could care less what the title is, i"ll just call her Cordy.

Sadly, although I do hope that by realizing her own mortality, Cordy got even nicer(not that she hadn't grown a lot in season 1 & 2) and really evolved as a person, I have no idea how of much of her caring and sweetness was her and what was the demon that Skip but in her in the beginning of season 3. Not that I don't think that Cordy had the possibility to be a good friend and mother-figure, but considering that Jasmine wanted Cordy to be close to Angel and Connor, Cordy's niceness might have been because of jasmine's and her worshippers influence on her.

I hope not tough. I hope that not until Cordy got her memory back, we lost her entirely of parts of her. more i can't hope for.
