Hey I watched the episode sanctuary the other day because my bro bought it from HMV and i thought it was incredible because it finally showed angel as his own person, he was no longer angel from buffy after this episode he was angel from angel- you might not really kno wwhat i mean but what i mean is this is one of the first eps i've ever seen where angel tells buffy the truth- i mean she was so trying to rub it in his face when she told him about riley and her "great new life" and also she said that she did everything she could to help faith, but i disagree- she could have done a lot more, e.g. not ***** about faith when she'd only just met her, make faith feel more welcome etc.
Don't get me wrong i love buffy but i think in this ep and in other eps (while she was with riley) she was acting too cocky and needed putting down a bit back to her normal greatness- what do you think?

Yes, I agree. She did sound cocky when she was talking about Riley, and her wonderful new life. And in a way I'm soooooo glad that Angel gave her a good hit. Because she just came into his apartment thingy and just jumped to conclusions to why Faith was in Angel's arms when she did not know the entire story... So I think it was a great episode for Angel. Because I know what you mean, he wasn't Angel form buffy anymore. He was Angel from Angel.

I think Buffy had that way to act toward Faith, and I see why she acted that way to Angel. IN Season3 Buffy was not flaunting her life infront of Faith, and she was not talking bad about her. She wanted Faith to be her friend and tried to help her out, and always hopeing Faith could just forget about her darkside and all the stuff that went on against them and be friends again like she said when she was talking to Willow in This Years Girl. And than what does Faith do? She continues to screw Buffy over in Season3 with trying to get her boyfriend, trying to kill her friends, than in Season4 Faith does the unthinkable. She switches bodies with Buffy and has her way with Buffy boyfriend and Buffy finally just had enough again.

And when Buffy went to LA to track down Faith and give her a nice a$$ kicking she saw her with Angel and Buffy(still having feelings for Angel) felt betrayed and hurt, so she tried to flaunt her life infront of him to make him feel bad. Was that right? no. but I see where she was coming from.

Sanctuary was a very good episode. The Buffy/Angel confrontation was shocking to watch. He'd never spoke to her like that. And while I agree that he was finally standing on his own, it was different to see. Buffy was more mean than normal because it seemed to her that Angel was chosing Faith over her. And that right on the heels of Riley sleeping with Faith in Buffy's body must have hit a very raw nerve.

It was good to see some of the tension between the Buffy and angel come out in a verbal fight. Throughout the first 3 years I can't remember them having one arguement at all 😀

I've only seen about five seconds of Sanctuary in a "previously on Angel" thing, but I'm planning on loving this episode. I am so looking forward to "The Buffy/Angel confrontation" and the "Angel was chosing Faith over Buffy" thing... Must be interesting..

What I don't like about episodes of Angel with Buffy crossovers is that they sometimes have the Buffy characters acting much differently than they had in the past.

I liked Faith so much better on Angel, than I ever did on Buffy, especially in Season 4 of Angel. Then she went back to her overemphasized ghettoness on Buffy.

Faith was definately better on Angel. I don't know if it was done on purpose (but knowing the show it probably was) but I always assumed they were showing how Faith could be outside of Buffy's shadow.

I finally got to watch this episode today. And I have got to agree that Buffy acted very strange. Not saying she's usually always nice when Faith is around, but she acted really really mean towards both Angel and Faith. Well, I can't say that surprised me either (because of the situation she was in) but I still feel Buffy wasn't really herself, I really hated the way she acted in this episode. Faith was just amazing though, it was nice to see her be able to be "weak" for once, or softer or whatever, and that Angel was the one who could make her feel comfortable enough to act that way. (I am so glad I watched these two episodes after seeing season 2-4 of AtS, 'cause before that I would have hated to see Faith and Angel in that kind of relationship.. I mean the kinda close and understanding one.) In a way I was sad that it turned out like this.. Buffy being really against Faith, and Angel.. I realize that I have just seen an episode that has got a lot to do with the Faith/Buffy relationship (and that I didn't know about this until today). But I also have this thing where I believe what happens on AtS isn't really real on BtVS and vice versa.. But I have just seen this episode way to recently to give my real opinion about it, this is just the "omg, I just saw this episode, oh, all these feelings, omg" ranting.. sorry about that.

My favorite thing about this episode is they actually establish that Buffy has far more power than Angel.

And Faith was amazingly better on Angel. She didn't have have to live up to the uber-expectations everyone placed on her because of how well the Buffy did; she could just be herself.

I love how she actually takes responsibility and starts a path that will get her life back together.

Though I would have loved to see Angel/Faith vs. Buffy. Ah great fight. Somehow I know B would come out on top though.

I agree... It's kinda sad that Buffy has so much more power than Angel though.. I felt kinda sorry for him, just 'cause he was so hurt, by seeing Buffy.. and all..
There's a Buffite, if ever I saw one... 😛.

This episode sort of marks Wesley's departure down the slippery slope of stubbliness as well, doesn't it?

I'm very annoyed that Kate turned into Stock Hardass cop [HASHTAG]#1534[/HASHTAG] for this episode. It irks me that they felt the need to sacrifice one of the only seven or so female characters in Angel for the sake of another. Kate was steadily coming to terms with Angel, and then she reverts back completely. All the subsequent writers took their cue from this. They killed Kate's likeability to make Faith a victimised heroine, when they didn't have to. Faith's a serial murderer, you don't have to be a complete b*tch just to want to arrest her really badly...

I love Faith's scene on the rooftop. Sort of the first time she stands up to Buffy in any way that counts. And a Helicopter! Woo!

Damn skippy. Although I kind of don't think of her as a person. I regard her as a hero and warrior. She's a great person and all, but all I really see is the fighter.

I actually think it was fitting for Kate to start acting like this and I felt that Faith did deserve some sympathy. Girl had it rough, yo.

Eeek. Sorry, the Y word...

I understand why Kate turned into - heh, I was about to say "Turned into a Law and Order character" - but given how much patience they'd invested in bringing Kate kicking and screaming into Angel's world, it felt a bit strange that she was quite so happy to kill him, and in later episodes just gets witchier... How many times has he saved your life, you stupid bint?

It feels like they were just levelling on the angst. Don't get me wrong - I do consider Faith a victim - but I just thought that adding this whole pressure from The Man (as represented, in this case, by The Woman) was unnecessary.

Having said that, if and when that miracle happens, I'd love Lockley to be part of any FTVS...

Many characters in the Buffyverse forget this a lot. Pisses me off a bit.

I felt like Faith had to have a final confrontation with Buffy, otherwise it just wouldn't feel right for her to go good yet. Plus she had things to get off her chest with Buffy. It's one of the 12 steps, I think.

Oh the Buffy thing was entirely necessary, but TheManWoman I mean is Kate. Faith's a killer. We all know this. Turning the cops pursuing her into remorseless gestapo makes Faith a persecuted outlaw, at least to the viewer. She's written to be far more sympathetic than Kate - fair enough, I'm a fan of both, but my ultimate loyalty belongs to Faith- but makes it far too easy to forget just how monstrous a figure Faith can be, and that seems just a smidgen patronising to the audience. It's my only fault with an otherwise stupendous piece of television.

Kate was becoming Ms. Ruthless Detective, but the girl had no right messing in anything. Not just the supernatural, but personal stuff.

Also have to note that Buffy came off as a huge bitca in this epi, but it was kind of in character considering what Faith did to her.

I've always wondered: Did Faith always have remorse about what she did and think it was wrong or did the events in the first season of Angel/fourth season of Buffy shed some light on everything that was wrong?

I think she did have a certain amount of remorse, but she managed to distract herself from having to deal with it by stabbing lots of things. Plus Faith is a tremendous masochist, so if you were in a particularly argumentative mood, you could argue that her way of punishing herself was to inflict yet more guilt on herself. Must... stop... saying "herself."...

I agree! It was very annoying. When I first saw it, it was only on Buffy and thought Angel was being the biggest butt! But Buffy kinda started it!

Yeah that's another annoying thing with the characters-acting-all-differently-on-the-different-shows thing. When I first saw the episode where Angel came to Sunnydale, had a fight with Riley and had that talk with Buffy.. I thought he acted very strangely. But I had really know what had just happened in LA, and now that I've seen Sanctuary it's like.. it was a huge thing of him, coming to Sunnydale, trying to make things right with Buffy, after she had treated him/acted the way she did in LA. What I mean is that on Angel you're supposed to be on Angel's side and on BtVS you're supposed to be on Buffy's side, which makes it kinda complicated. (Perhaps more so since they're not really on different sides and most people probably just want them back together.)

Faith...

I think the episode was wicked, so very wicked. The part when Faith had to go to jail, that wasn't cool. I love Faith she is so cool and pretty too. Angel had some pretty good signs of a good heart for Faith, for a while it almost made me think he was in love her. lol. (bursting out laughing)

I have my own theory that Angel and Faith had feelings for each other and that that would last. I gave my mom evidence that this could be true and she said that it made sense. So I think he loves her and vice-versa. Faith has a really dark past history and I feel for her, her parents being abusive and all I think she could have deserved better. That is probably the reason for the way she was acting in Buffy season 3.

See I have so many wild theories, I think Buffy could have tried to see through Faith's "bad" and tried to realize how hurt she is inside because of her mother, her bad run-ins with Kakistos and a whole bunch more stuff that could have possibly happened to her. To realize this is like figuring out a mystery that was unsolved.

Watch all of Faith's episodes like I did and maybe you will see my points, and maybe even figure out things I haven't.
