Sarah and Success

I was just wondering how many of you think that Sarah might return to TV within the next few years considering her lack of any real success in the movies (and let's be truthful, her movies have been underwhelming to say the least)
 
I saw her on the late show last night, though i dont know how recent it was! I duno if she'll return to tv, interesting question though. And I do agree her films are some what under whelming..
 
She probably won't return to TV. My guess is she'll continue with the movie thing.

It's hard to say whether or not I agree with the underwhelming theory. Mainstream? Definitely not. Underwhelming? Not sure.
 
I think it would be a SMART move for her to go back to TV. She's not really in the best movies. I gave the Grudge a chance twice and I'm still kind of confused as to why she was even IN it. It wouldn't change the movie much if we just cut her out.
And, if she REALLY wants to drop the "Buffy Image" she's going to have to go back to TV. Besides, TV isn't what it used to be. Now it's COOL. She could do a comedy, heck she could do CSI. I wouldn't mind her being on Criminal Minds. There are lots of things she could do and it would be good for her.

It would CERTAINLY help my view of her. It just kind of bugs me to see her basically do these low rate movies and then complain that everyone remembers her as Buffy. Short of Scooby Doo (where she's still kind of Buffy-ish) none of her other movies are very memorable. If she doesn't want to be remembered as Buffy....perhaps she should give us something more to remember her by!

I don't understand why she doesn't want to be remembered as Buffy, she was at her best when she was Buffy, the show was a huge hit and very well done, plus her character is Memorable. I liked her in the few other movies I've seen her in. Cruel Intentions, Harvard Man, Simply Irresistible , The Scooby flicks. I'm not sure If I want her to go to t.v. if her attitude is nothing like Buffy. I loved the character, I wouldn't want to see her as a soap actress again because I don't like soaps. 😛 I like scifi shows and primetime dramas!

Sorry, but for the next 72 hours Wanna-Be-Slayer is the Goddess. But, perhaps I could fit you in on Sunday?
It's not my call but I think she should get back to TV, I mean look at Tom Welling he's so successful and he's on TV AND in a few movies. I think it'll work out better for her.
 
I agree with Spuffy. I mean it's not that I don't think she's a good actress it's just in my opinion- and it may be due to the types of films she has done- but she always seems to do better as a big fish in a small pond rather than the other way round.
When she's in a movie there's lots of expectation and then 8 times out of 10 it's a bit of a disappointment. Whereas on TV well...there tends to be more guaranteed success. I mean look how well David and Alyson are doing.
And she seems to constantly insist she wants rid of her Buffy image but movies wasn't the way to go about that in my opinion. If she had contracted on for another series, people would have begun to see her as that character. But I appreciate she didn't want any more commitment contracts so.....
 
I think with a tv series, because they are on for so long, well some. That the character developes and we get to know them every week a little bit more.

When an actor does a film, we get only that 2 hours of them. They aren't in your home every week developing.

Sarah could have done another show, another character, and we would identify with her as that character, and not just Buffy. But when we see her in a movie, we get so little of her character that it doesn't usually speak to us. Unless the film she is in can blow us away. Which hasn't happened for me at all.

Exactly what TabulaRasa said. I mean in a TV series, it's practically real time. We watch the characters grow, we get older as they get older, we experience things with them. One of the actors on Buffy (Shame on me as I can't remember which one) said in an interview that in a film you only get snippets of a relationship as to fit in the small time you have to go from point A to B without getting to see points A1 A2 and A3. In a series the relationships between characters are allowed to developed naturally at a realistic rate that allows us to follow it, become engrossed in it and relate to it.
 
I think Sarah has done well for herself in movies-- not to say i hope she doesnt come back to tv eventually!
