Yay, it's back! It started last night and it kicked ASS. The opening sequence, with the music and the slow motion and Cameron burning down the house, was amazing. I need to find that song now; it was great.

Also: Shirley Manson! When her name popped up in the beginning credits I almost wet myself. I LOVE Garbage, and I think Shirley's gorgeous, and now I see that she's a great actress, too! Although if she's acting, she's not making a new Garbage album . . . *grump*

And how excited was I when she turned into a T1000?! I was wondering when the freaking LIQUID TERMINATORS would show up. And the fact that they got Shirley Manson to play one is just frakking AWESOME.

This was some of the best acting I have ever seen from Summer Glau. Seriously. The part where she's begging John not to turn her off, that she's fine, that she loves him. . . . Heartbreaking, even coming from a machine that you KNOW can't have these emotions (though didn't they hint last season that Cameron's different? Almost Data-esque? That she may be able to understand human emotion and possibly even feel it?).

OH! And John finally grew a pair! I was so annoyed last season because, as much as I love strong female characters, I don't think it should come at the expense of strong male characters. And, HELLO, this kid's supposed to save the world and he can't even stand up to his mother? I like this season's John much better already.

Whew! That was some season premiere!

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

That actually surprised me. Was not sure of the budget to do that week in and week out. It was nice but I hope it does not mean less of Garret Dillahunt. He is a superb actor.
 
^ I actually wasn't surprised. Almost the second she showed up on screen, I knew she'd
be a robot, but I DIDN'T know she'd be a T1000.
That was awesome. And if I were a guy, it would probably scare me off of using urinals ever again.
 
We don't get it here in the UK until the 22nd of October but I'm glad to hear it got off to a good start. Plus woot! for one of 'those' turning up again, kickass.

Best thing I ever get out of the urinal is splashes of water and the occasional stray curly attached to the side.. i would welcome something like shirley being there.. no wait.. that might could maybe be a humbling experience.. nevermind!!
 
The only thing that bugged me about the season premier was the slow-motion action. Other than that, I loved it. Great to have a show on 8PM Mondays that I watch and love!
 
first off, thanks BB for starting this thread!

i was very pleased with last nights epi. i give it an 8.5/10. i would have given it a higher marking, but it two car wrecks in a row where everyone lived AND walked away from (yeah, sure, they were hurt, but not really). that wasnt very believable to me. they should have cut one of the wrecks out.

anyway, negativity aside, im very happy for the shows return and i truly believe we are in for a treat this season!

btw, the dvd of season 1 is awesome and the special features are great.
 
Unfortunately I'm in the UK so I had to watch it on my computer 🙁 I did find a site with decent quality though. What a season premiere!! Really excited about Shirley joining the cast, the bathroom scene was ace!! Also the whole angle with Cameron was excellent, had been waiting for that to happen. Really hope we see more of Derek's flashbacks this season.

Any predictions?

Really? I liked the slo-mo. I thought it fit with the season finale.

Apparently the song that goes on during the opening sequence is "Samson and Delilah," a Grateful Dead song, covered by Shirley Manson. It will be on the soundtrack, which is supposed to be out later this year.
 
what did everyone think of last nights episode? i thought it was the best yet! 10/10!!

seeing summer glau act as both the t888 and alison young was phenomenal. she did such a great job. can anyone say emmy?

What? We can accept that a soulless vampire can love, but a robot can't? Talk about double standards! No, seriously, if you look back at "Terminator 2," you'll notice that Arnold was definitely beginning to show the beginnings of emotion, especially in the last scene, and he had only been associating with humans for a relatively short time. If Cameron had the same typy of "learning somputer" as Arnie had, she could have begun to have emotions just loke he did. On the other hand, it might have been part of her programming to simulate emotions in order to mingle with humans, like a sort of survival mechanism. Either or both, take your pick.
 
Woah, "Terminator"s been AMAZING this season! I really, really disliked 2.13, the mid-season finale, but from 2.04-2.12...WOAH! Those were awe-worthy. I love the Cameron-centric episodes, like "Allison from Palmdale", and the time-changing episodes, like 2.12 "Alpine Fields". Amazing season, so far! Love it!
