Cool news. Angel writers working for Joss again.

"Murder Club" creators land on their feet

I knew it wouldn't take long for Sarah Fain and Liz Craft, the Pembroke Hill grads who created "Women's Murder Club" for ABC, to find new employment inside the sprawling Twentieth TV complex. Craft and Fain, who have a long-term deal with Fox, were told that James Patterson and ABC were done with them on Monday. On Tuesday Fox offered them a project. On Wednesday Joss Whedon called.

"Joss emailed and said "˜I'm really sorry "” and is it too soon to ask you to work on "Dollhouse"?' " said Fain.

Joss Whedon, as I need not explain to fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" or "Firefly," is the beloved creator of those two shows and the mind behind television's most anticipated new series. "Dollhouse" has a seven-episode order from Fox, will star Eliza Dushku, who used to be on "Buffy," and will go into production in about six weeks. They are his first two staff writers.

"It was all very quick," Fain said.

Craft added, "That was literally as we got home from cleaning out our offices. It cushioned the blow."

Thanky for the news gb! :D
And a very nice pillow to do the cushioning there. An email from Joss saying 'wanna work for me?'. I think they would have been crazy to say no, haha. I bet the blow of unemployment is barely noticeable now...hehe. Well, mostly anyway. Ish.

They weren't my favorite Whedon writers, but I like them. Loved the Glen Close season of the Shield. HERE's their credits. Actually it's Sarah Fain's, but the way I understand it, if Fain is writing so is Craft.

That's cool. I know Minear is also signed on... hope the other writers I love aren't too busy.. Suppose Fury, Goddard etc are busy with Lost. Wonder what Greenwalt and Espensen are up to.

how cool would it be if we could get most of the Buffy/Angel/Firelfy writers to sign on? i'd love it if Epensen signed up. it'd be a big Whedonverse reunion then!! lol

any word on James Marsters? has he difinitely signed or what? i should go check that out...

were there rumours about James signing on?

Espenson signing on would just make uncontainable happy! haha
Jane Espenson's still working for Battlestar Galactica, is that right? But there's only one season left. And she did a pilot, "Warehouse 13" or whatever it is.

Super psyched that Minear is on board. Greenwalt...he supposedly quit Moonlight because of health reasons.

This is pretty cool news. It's not like they're my fav writers, but they did some good stuff.

In case anyone's curious, the couple of them were responsible for writing: Supersymmetry, Soulless, Release, Players, Shiny Happy People, Unleashed, Harm's Way, Underneath. In addition to that, they were both Executive Story Editors for most of Season 4 and 5 of Angel.

Harm's Way kinda reminds me of something Espenson would have written. I liked Unleashed.

Here's what Sarah and Liz have to say about Dollhouse, so far.

" "˜Dollhouse' is going to be an awesome show," Craft said, "but it's a hard show to sum up in one sentence."

"It will be intelligent and intricate and have amazing characters," Fain said. "It's a show about what it means to be human."

"How screwed up we are and how divine we are ..." Craft said.

"And everything in between," added her partner in crime. "It's really great, because as a writer you can create a whole new world with every episode."

If Joss asked them to work for him, I'm sure it was because he really liked their talent.

I get more excited for this show all the time.

DollhouseTV.net attended a Q & A with Craft and Fain, and they grabbed a little scoop.

"Joss [Whedon] has an amazing vision for the sets in The Dollhouse," said Fain.

We also learned that production on the pilot episode begins April 23 in Los Angeles, and that the recent script pages released for casting earlier this week were written solely by Joss. Fain and Craft will return to work on the show Monday.

I am very excited about all this. People who have worked with Joss know he creates masterpieces.
