Sarah Michelle Gellar Hated When Fans Called Her Buffy

I can understand it being a pain 😛.

It's funny that some actors dislike being called their character names because i'm also a wrestling fan and a lot of wrestlers hate it when you use their real names when you meet them. They find it disrespectful haha.

Sarah always seemed super mature even in the old 97' interviews. I am not shocked she's enjoying being settled down with her family now.

Wow, another Buffy fan whose also a wrestling fan? I thought I was the only one...

Interestingly enough, Sarah's husband is now a writer for WWE.

I get that and see how it could annoy her. Some people take characters and fly with it and don't mind always talking about it like Joshua Jackson for example every interview I see him on he is okay with Pacey and supports it. Some people just want to move on either way I am glad she is so happy now.

If I were her I'd be happy being called Buffy, it sure beats people coming up to her and saying 'Hey Siobhà¡n...or are you Bridget?! aha imposter!

I don't know, this is something that always annoyed me. I wouldn't be someone to approach an actor, much less talk to them or address them as their character, but I do think it is somewhat unfair for them to get up in arms about fans addressing them by the name they know them by. I don't think it would be too different from there being BB meet up and people addressing each other by their online handles.

It just feels so disingenuous to me for her to correct fans who call her Buffy. I'm glad that she acknowledges how immature it was for her to be angry at fans for calling her by her character's name.

This just reminds me of when the "sour girl" video used to come on Pop-up video... and it would just pop at random "Look it's Buffy!" and then immediately move on to tellatubbie jokes. The 90's were a simpler time. What did she think was going to happen? Buffy was already iconic before the show... if it were me I'd just be glad that I gave that many people something to be happy about and was a part of TV history. Didn't she get referred to by her All my children name before that?
