SMG appeared on Andy Cohen's "Watch what happens live" along with Ryan Murphy.

When a fan called in to ask Murphy if he would use SMG of Glee (hm, would she appear? She never expressed much love for singing in OMWF...) Murphy politely assured that he would use her on anything and went on to say;

‘I want Sarah to come on American Horror and do like one episode as some great thing, a part that I would write for her, like something glamorous and sexy-- [looked to SMG] you could do that.’

To which SMG answered, ‘That would be fun. I could try’.

So, any AHS fans here who'd be excited if this happened?
I haven't watched that show yet but of course, I'm pleased to see SMG in just about anything.
🙂

I think "I could try" is the politically correct way to say no. It's like 'let me check my calendar.' I mean, honestly, a one episode shot is what fading stars do, isn't it? I could see it for Glee because it's a different type of show, but not for AHS, as the narrative (as bad as it is) is really tight. So a character to only appear in one episode would either be killed- which that would work actually- or just some really minor character. So yeah. She would have to be killed. THAT would be the way to do it. I stand corrected. If it was a glorious death it could work.

Yeah, I mean, obviously conversations like these are pretty nebulous - they are on the spot after all. But you never know, something could come of it...

This could be pretty fun.
Heh, it would be incredibly cool if they could get the entire BtVS/AtS cast (plus Jessica Lange natch) to do a season. Totally would never happen, but I can dream.

Well, apparently Jessica Lange is leaving, we need a new female lead 😉

Maybe I'd actually get back into the show, Coven and Freak Show we're pretty disappointing.

I think that pretty well hits the nail on the head. Sarah still considers herself a serious actor, and going back into the horror/supernatural genre is almost certainly something that she wants to avoid at all cost.

The last season was terrible. I'm thinking they should just end it there and not do a 5th. They really have to pick up the ball on the next season. Even though I did like the 3rd season, I can see why people didn't. Of course I would watch it if SMG appeared but do I want to see it not really. It would have to be a two-parter episode like they did with NPH this last season.

I just took this as her response to his question of her doing something glamorous and sexy. I think SMG could pull that off.

I lost interest in Freak Show. I'll probably finish it at some point, but I'm in no hurry at all.
I liked Murder House. Liked Asylum, although I think they tried to squeeze too many different things into it. I enjoyed Coven up until the last few episodes which I found very underwhelming.

I suppose whether or not I try season 5 will depend of the theme. Then again, Freak Show sounded so promising and I've just not felt it that much. At this rate, I'd say wrap it up with season 5.

And for God sake, take it down a notch with the musical numbers Murphy... Glee is dead, just deal with it and move on!

Oh right, so SMG. I'd be happy to see her in something new. Last thing I watched her in was Ringer and yes I'm still bitter about that cancellation.

I agree with this. If Sarah had said 'I could definitly do that' it might've come across as a bit arrogant or something.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with an actor/actress cameoing on a show for an episode or so to keep their hand in- hell some actors make a living out of it.

I've never seen AHS so I can't say whether it would be a good fit material-wise, but Sarah knows the horror genre, and I think she's stayed away long enough so that a return wouldn't seem desperate or anything.

Sorry, Murphy said that Lange is coming back....

I guess this is good news! I like Lange.

Honestly, it's Murphy that I am worried about, he has a history of dropping the balls as the seasons go by. The first few seasons are always fantastic, and then it goes to utter shit. I mean, it happened with Nip/Tuck (although not as badly, I watched this one to the end), Glee and AHS. The man just can't hold my interest.

I always forget Nip Tuck was made by him too. Yeah, totally agree.

I don't know, I don't think she's as high and mighty as people seemed to think. She mostly seems to pick parts based on interest in script and people involved. I mean she wasn't too serious to do two Scooby-Doo movies... and Southland Tales was hardly a serious movie, she said yes to that because she wanted to work with Richard Kelly. If she's interested in working with Ryan Murphy then I think she'd say yes if he wrote her something interesting, regardless of the genre.

Yeah. Apparently, nothing on that show really interests her all that much.

Didn't even know Glee was still on, talk about flogging a dead horse.

Not seen AMH story, but it is one I plan on watching soon, and I agree with the postives posts suggesting than if given a good role then Sarah could make an impact on that show. Actually, think it would be more of a regressive step to do a one off on Glee.

You should wait and reserve judgement until you see AHS and how little a one-episode appearance would mean.

I would be pretty happy if SMG actually did appear on AHS 🙂

I agree that Freak Show was seriously lacking. I was so disappointed. I'm currently rewatching the show, I'm half way through Asylum and I intend to rewatch Freak Show, I'm hoping I will like it a bit more once I watch every episode back to back.

@VisionBoy - Ugggh, yes! I totally agree about all the musical numbers. I adore David Bowie, but it really got old. Plus it felt a little jarring to have 70's glam rock in a show set in the 50's.

I really hope things pick up in season 5.
